Does anyone have a favorite knife maker who forges that makes absoultey beautiful knives that will hold a super edge and hold it as well? THANKS!

I have about 15-20 favorites who forge extremely nice knives.

What kind of knife and price range are you looking for?

it depends on what your looking for. but i would rank the following makers as on "top" of the cutting edge of the "forging" field. (they are in no special order)

Jerry Fisk

Tim Zowada

Don Fogg

there are many more makers out there that may equal the talent of the above listed, but you wont go wrong with anything from these three.

Good Suggestions by Matt (rmlamey)!

Also:
Jim Crowell, David Anders (featured in this months Knives Illustrated), Jim Walker, John Fitch, Joe Flournoy, J.R. Cook, Roger Massey, Tim Foster & Ronnie Foster and others.

Most of these guys make a hunter in the 275-350 range. Expect to pay more for Master Smiths blades.

Hi Larry!

Ed Fowler makes a nice forged knife. Well, the blade is forged anyway. I have some pictures of one I got as a gift, at my web page (<A HREF="http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/TPHaller/page2.html">Ed Fowler Knife Page</A>). I don't know what they cost, as mine was a gift. Very tough, and comfortable, and I like how it looks.
