What in you opinion is the best knife magazine that will give an amateur the most information about knives? Thanks

None. They all full of crap to various degrees.

The best info is here.

I am fairly new to customs. I have learned a lot in Blade the last few years. I subscribe to it, then just catch the other ones that are out there when I pass by a nice bookstore. But, you can learn bunches on here...with pictures, too. Plus, check on-line magazines.

Knife magazines need two things to stay in business. One is that the knife industry thrive to a reasonable extent and the second is that said companies advertise in them. To both ends I think gun and knife magazines try to sell you on the idea that there is always some superior new product you just have to try. As if buying a new short magnum synthetic stock rifle will bag you better game than your trusty 700 30-06. Bull honky. Same goes for knives. Pictures and seeing what makers are up to makes me buy Blade.

You guys are right about none of the magazines being full of unbiased information. Like many have said in other threads through the months and years, when do you see a knife get a really bad review? We know the reason for that....don't we.

Anyway, I do subscribe to Blade, Knives Illustrated, and Tatical Knives. Of the three, I think I find the most interesting articles in Tatical Knives. I'm not into to fighting knives, but I find that Tatical Knives mag covers many knives that are useful in the outdoors. That's my interest...that and having a good folder to cut whatever needs cutting throughout the day.

So, my vote is TK.
:)
P.S. As BigJimSlade suggests, however, reading these magazine results in spending money.

I'd agree on outdoor knives being in Tactical Knives.

But I usually have some folder for city use and like the general composition of Blade and Knives Illustrated.

I have a stack of oldies for the pot and every time a KI comes up, I find something neat and lotsa pictures so I just resubscribed.
Blade comes every month. Blade also seems to be deteriorating in content over the past year. Or I'm getting jaded.

Tactical Knives 1st
Blade 2nd
Knives Ill. 3rd

Hit the forums to really learn. Read and ask questions. Alot of makers are here and can be helpful along with average joes. Two people I learn alot from on here is STR and MORIMOTOM. Cool guys indeed!

Blade and Tactical Knives are well put together art magazines, and of course big ads.

I like the "What knife I carry" page, Ed Fowlers articles, Kim Breeds reviews and the knifemaker bio section.

For TK, I like reading Jerry Van Cook, he is crazier than an outhouse rat. I also like reading Dan Schectmans reviews.

Knives Illustrated is a waste of paper. Terrible layout and design, and the articles are usually not good.

Knife World has to be my favorite. Sure, they're selling ad space too, but they are really writing for the collector, to a degree.

I guess it would be bad business practice to flog the knife made by your advertiser, but still, I prefer to come here, Knifeforums and Jerzee Devil to get my information. I learned about all the different knives available in those magazines, but I learned to look for what I wanted, and have come to a better understanding of what I want, from being a member here.

Tactical Knives has the best articles but their last issue was not very good.
Blade is the one you want if you are into customs.
KI is the one I usually don't by unless there is something specific in it I want.

Well, what do you carry?

Buy the magazine! :D They're advertising him; he's advertising them! :D :D :D

I used to subscribe to Blade and KI but I drifted away after spending so much time here. On BF I can talk about the knives, not just read about them. I can research new knives on dealers' websites, too.
