Best knife pair

Well, the constant threads about 'best single knife' got me thinking. What's the best 'pair' of knives? That doesn't mean they came as a set, just that you carry them as such. Any mixture of fixed and folders is allowed. I am limiting it to three knives total (parasite blades count as separate knives).

My entry is Benchmade's 705 and 730.

A big Randall and a smaller Victorinox into hollow handle.

Seriously. For outdoor i prefer Spyderco Endura and Coldsteel Bushman.

Dream Team. What I have learned from Bladeforum: CR Sebenza + Mad Dog.

I asked a similiar question regarding best carry and protection. Got a lot of reply's saying to get a Chris Reeve Sebenza. I got the lg plain and I love it as a daily carry.
Just got my Kasper Combat Folder from Pat Crawford and must say that I love it also.
It's a large knife and I carry it when I need that feeling of security in parts of Miami that are not so friendly. Hope it never gets used for this purpose, but if the situation arises I'm glad I have the Kasper. Both knives are of superior quality and workmanship.

You can't go wrong with this pair

CRK large Sebenza & Shadow I. They can slice and dice with the best of them.

It's only a mistake if you fail to learn from it!

This is a difficult question because it depends on the situation. For daily carry, it's a small sebenza in one pocket and a medium Wenger SAK (w/sawblade) in the other (and a couple others too but I'm only allowed 2 here so...).

For hunting, I want a good fixed blade on the hip. For grouse and small game its a Marble Fieldcraft and for deer its a Marble Woodcraft. In the pocket, an SAK (can't imagine going anywhere without an SAK) and the small sebbie (which I'm not allowed 'cause I can only carry 2 knives).

If I'm hunting or hiking offtrail in unknown, fairly rugged territory, it's the Busse Badger attack on the hip and either an SAK or Multitool (in reality--both

)in the pack or pocket.

I prefer to think of knives in combos of 4 (or more
smile.gif
)since I always have at least 4 as part of my daily carry: small sebbie, Wenger SAK, SOG crossgrip, and small Victorinox SAK.

Just plain knutty about knives,

RICK - Left Handers Unite

Mk2 Ka-Bar and an original Leatherman tool (but I will soon be upgrading to the Next Generation and a Wave tool). I might as well throw in a folder as well, the Covert being my current favorite (but don't count out the Endura or the Commander)...

"I am not, really."

For office carry:
CRKT Mirage/Warcliff blade- to loan
Outdoor Edge Magna - for large boxes
Victorinox climber-never leave home without it

Travel:
Carson Chisel U2
HI Kumar Kobra
Leatherman
Plus the above

For the field:
Carson U2 Tanto
Carson Stelite paring knife
SAK
HI Ram Badur or Kumar Kobra

Sorry for the liberty on the numbers. This is a paired down version of the minimum I carry

I have more than two pockets some why waste the space.

Cheers,

ts

Wicked Knife Company's Livesay RTAK, Livesay Air Assault and Livesay NRGS-EX. They go great together.

SOCOM Elite and a partially serrated CPM 440v Native(your choice of the BF Blue or the Zytel version. Well, my choice really

). Or for situations where something as big and expensive as the SOCOM is not advisable, then a plain edge CPM 440v Native to go with the partially serrated one.

Always carry two blades. Last weekend I was wanded (as in metal-detector) at a public gathering and had to take my Sifu and Benchmade 710 back to the vehicle before I could get in. I wished that I had some small pocket knife with me after that.

My usual workday pair is one from column A:

Darrel Ralph large Apogee
REKAT Sifu
Pat Crawford Carnivore
Benchmade 710

And one from column B:

David Boye custom lockback
Benchmade M-2 Mini AFCK
Bladeforums Spyderco Native (modified)
