Hello,
I have a ZT 0150 (sweet knife) that is in need of some much needed sharpening. The blade is ever so slightly chipped and the tip is almost as dull as a preschoolers crayon ☺. Without spending more than $100 what is the best knife sharpener you would recomend. Please describe why. Thanks for the help

best is fairly subjective. but most will say the spyderco sharpmaker would be the best for under 100 dollars. it is easy to use, and gets a knife sharp fairly quickly. even cheaper you could use a mousepad and sandpaper, you could use a leather strop. there are so many options for under 100 dollars.

DMT Aligner! It will take a while to sharpen your knife on the Spyderco Sharpmaker, especially if it doesn't match the angle on the edge. The DMT will take the chip out and fix your tip right up! Around $50!

Freehand with DMT stones or Nortons. The Sharpmaker is ok for maintaing a sharp edge. To each his own, there is NO BEST.

I prefer genuine Arkansas Oil stones. THough, when I have more budget, I shall buy collection of japanese sharpening stone from 1000 grit to 4000/6000 grit and learn sharpening using them.

I've been using paper wheels and a leather strop for a while. I haven't found a quicker way to put an edge on a knife.

I just got a Lansky universal sharpening system about a week ago and it works great!
That will run you about fifty bucks, including the mount(either the c clamp or universal mount) which I would recommend.
I've been able to take out small chips with it.

I´ve been able to reprofile the edge with Lansky clamp and small diamond file (no need to spend extra money for diamond Lansky sharpeners). Works on every possible steel... For keeping knives sharp I freehand them on ceramic sharpener (Al2O3 + ZrO2 + SiO2) up to 3000 grit.
BUT ZT 150 is a dagger and it could be tricky to mount clamp on it.

I do realize that 'best" is subjective, I'm just looking for something as quick to sharp as possible and can sharpen S30V steel. Something that will restore the tip and edge that had some chips would be great. Thanks for the help

You can do it with a Lansky set up, it works best if you have the clamp/mount to secure the sharpener. A steady hand and a paper wheel set on a grinder will do it faster though.

I have been known to use my desert combat boots as a strop before. Works like a champ if you don't have anything else.

Benchstones would probably be a good bet for you. Unlike most ZTs, it seems to me that your knife doesn't have any recurve in the blade to worry about...

I'd recommend a combination 220/1000 grit Norton stone or something comparable from a different company - a very useful combination, imho. The 220 side will be really useful in removing chips and junk, and the 1000 side makes for a pretty useable edge.

TBQH, if there are chips in your blade and the tip has been rounded off, you're probably going to be spending quite a while fixing the blade's edge, no matter what sharpening method you choose (unless you turn to power tools, I spoze).

I moth-balled my SharpMaker when I bought the complete range of DMT Dia-folds. I wish I'd have got the full size but the small ones work great on all folders and small/medium fixed too. :)

Send it back to Kershaw. No charge, even for return shipping. They will put the factory edge back on it, and if its too dinged up to sharpen properly, you'll get a new one.

Other than that, get the paper wheels and learn to use them. Takes only a few minutes to get hair splitting edges on dull knives.

Wow I didnt think of sending it in haha. The paper wheel sounds excellent I may look into that. Thanks all!!!
