Best Knife to Gift for YouTube Unboxings?

My friend recently started a YouTube channel about the trading card game Magic; The Gathering. I play casually, whereas he is into it in a similar level that I am to knives.

He recently gave me a box (that I made a crossover unboxing video with
) and cool card. In some of his videos he opens boxes using a craft knife, and I commented that he needs a better knife for his videos.

What would you suggest? Maybe the Gerber Prybid, Gerber Zip Blade, Gerber Key Note, Gerber EAB, Kershaw Cinder, SOG Centi, Cold Steel Micro Recon, maybe a Spyderco Bug or Ladybug.

Any other good options? Relatively budget conscious, under $50 shooting for under $30.

I think you should go a little over that budget and give him a Michael Walker zipper blade. I think that might impress his viewers a little more than your average Gerber.

Buck 55 is small and classy
Buck 283 is tiny and easy to use

I have a Spyderco Dragonfly on my keys that’s really convenient, and not too big

Or maybe an inexpensive/entry level auto so he can use it one handed, set it down, and move on with the unboxing/review

I don’t have a suggestion for any specific model but maybe something with more of a fantasy design to kind of fit in with the subject matter?

they’re sure tiny little things!

Just get him a big honking sword. That shows some gravitas.

might be tough to fit in frame!

Hahah maybe after I hit the lottery a couple times

Christy companion.

you know, I like this idea. Traditional but with one hand opening. Feels expensive for what it is, I didn’t realize they were still being made.

Spyderco ladybug.

can’t go wrong with a ladybug

What about a Spyderco Grasshopper? Spyderco quality, 2.3" blade, stainless steel handle, decent steel (12c27) and under $25.

Or maybe a Cold Steel Tuff Lite or Mini Tuff Lite?

the Grasshopper would be a good choice I think because it’s small enough to not be overkill but big enough to be able to be used for edc.

btw it’s not that I think he is unfamiliar with knives, he just doesn’t carry one

Tom Maringer Vorpal Blade.

not big enough

Byrd hawkbill serrated

for some reason I don’t think this would be the best choice. Idk why

unfortunately autos are less than legal here so I wouldn’t want to put that on him.

An auto would wow the viewers.

Do people actually watch unboxing videos?

My suggestion would be a COLDSTEEL Brooklyn Smasher and a decent pinata shaped like the coronavirus!
That would be a must watcher!

I think they do for MtG because you literally don’t know what you’re gonna get. So it’s exciting to see if they pull any good cards. It’s a little different than knives.

It's a very small shop ran by the grandson of the inventor who acquired the original equipment sometime in the past 10 years, I dont know how many people there are to run said equipment but if theres very few it would explain the $20 price and $10 shipping.

Technically you can open it one handed, but it's kind of fiddly to do so since the button slides downward instead of pushing in.

I'd say the best reason for one is that it's very classy and somewhat unique ( his viewers are sure to ask about it ) and you've got the 3 different blade locking positions with the shortest being great for opening packages.

Not fancy or cool. but well made, cheap and the best box/package opener ive ever used.

Hell yeah. I don't have this particular knife, but I have a Pioneer Rancher and the small hawkbill is just about the best thing there is for clamshell packaging. Allows for very controlled cuts at shallow depths to avoid damaging anything else (including yourself).

EDIT: While the Pioneer Rancher is long discontinued and expensive if/when found, the Pioneer Pruner (I guess that's what it's called) is still available for about $40 or so, being a full sized 93mm ALOX with a standard blade and the short pruner (and nothing else).

A hawkbill Spyderco would make sense as well, in case the unboxer wants to open the knife with one hand while holding whatever is being unboxed with the other.
