im looking for a larger size diamond stone that wont wear out. basically a never-ending piece of sand paper. any good suggestions?

I use the DMT 8" x 3" continuous "stones". I haven't had them that long, but so far I like it much more than the 8" interrupted surface DMT's I have. If they hold up well I will have no complaints.

Yup DMT 3x8 continuous surface. Top tier stuff - Atoma 3x8. Either one will last a long time if you take proper care of it.

Atoma is what I prefer and if you use them to flatten stones you wont get that horrible stiction issue. If you do happen to wear down an Atoma you can buy a new diamond surface as well.

Anything DMT at least, and Eze-Lap are likely good too. So long as you use them properly (light pressure, keep them clean), most any of the reputable brands will last a very long time.

If comparing directly to wet/dry sandpaper, might also consider a Norton Crystolon C/F bench stone (in silicon carbide). Same abrasive as most of the wet/dry papers, but in a double-sided stone. Very aggressive & works fast. Not as expensive, either, and will easily handle all but the most ultra-wear-resistant steels (and even some of them, probably).
