With Benchmade lefties a thing of the past, my nod goes to the lefty commander. Hurray for Ernie Emerson!

Have you looked at the Benchmade 710 or 705 McHenry & Williams? Both of these have reversible clips which makes it equally adaptable to left or right.

The same is true for all of the newer style Spyderco Delica/Endura type knives with a reversible clip.

My guess is that true dedicated left hand knives are going to fewer and farther between. People don't but them, dealers don't stock them because they don't sell which means that most people couldn't buy one even if they wanted. Eventually the makers figure it out and stop making them.

The reversible clip ala Spyderco and Benchmade is the best answer. Every knife is left handed, and can be changed back and forth as required. We just have to convince the makers that the reversible clip is the wave of the future.

I have to admit that even being left handed I do not feel particularly handicapped with a dedicated right hand knife in my left hip pocket. I do kind of wish that the clip on my Wegner was reversible but I am happy with the knife as it is.

Warning! Company rep in thread. What do you guys think of the Pentagon Elite? Dual sided thumbstud and the clip can mount both sides of the knife. From those we talked to...a true lefty's dream.

Thanks for the warning Ron!

I have to admit that I am not familiar with the Pentagon Elite. and only familiar with SOG in passing.

I tend to buy knives that I have seen and handled and SOG is not big around here.

Pause . . .

Just found a picture and writeup in A. G. Russell Spring Catalog . . . I will admit to not being much of a fan of 440 A. but the price seems to be reasonable. The point is interesting. Otherwise, it seems to have all the elements. Liner lock?

I will make it a point to look for one in my travels. When I find a shop that has one? we'll see . . . If I don't leave with it in my pocket it won't be because the clip doesn't reverse.

akula57, that's easy; a Small Left Handed Wood Inlay Sebenza.

Rick, CRK will never let you down!

I think it is a shame that BenchMade is putting all their left handed eggs in the Axis basket, but who knows how many left-handed AFCKs they have moved out since the 710 was introduced?

Autos are lefty friendly,MT good quality. The axis lock is true ambi.I like one handed closeing as much as much as one handed opening so dual thumb studs or a spydie hole on a righty don't quite cut it.I currently carry a MT m-udt,MT mini socom,BM 705 and a small LH sebenza in rotation so I can sharpen them at my leisure.I am very happy with all of them.I am always looking for more along these lines.

Ron,

A. G. Russell has it wrong in their catalog. 440 C makes the blade more apealing.

What can you tell us about the Arcloc. Is there a drawing or photograph somewhere or is it under wraps.

It seems like new locks are where the action is. Every one seems to have one either just out or just about to come out. So far they all look pretty good.

I've only one lefty and that's a al handled C19 so I guess that wins by default BUT any reversible clip or good ergonomics knife easily outstrips that knife...my vote is the current carry, the Military.

"All their left handed eggs in the Axis basket?"

I went out on a mission this afternoon. I was out looking for a Pentagon Elite for Ron, (well sort of).

My trip was cut short by a stop a one of our better local gun shops. Owner had an SOG multi tool which I played with for a few minutes (his own, not for sale).

He had just gotten in a shipment of new benchmades, including a 730 BT.

I left with one less check in my check book, a brand new 730 BT, a Mini Stryker Auto, and a neat little Benchmade Trox driver set.

I decided that I better head back to the house, because I couldn't afford to keep looking for a Pentagon Elite.

Anyway when I got home I opened up my brand new Torx drive set and moved the clip on the 730 to the other side of the knife.

"All their left handed eggs in the Axis Basket?" That is a hell of a basket!

Remember what Mark Twain said, "Don't put all your eggs in one basket is the wisdom of a fool. The wise man knows to put all his eggs in one basket and WATCH THAT BASKET."

Company rep? Are you referring to me? I do Corporate Research in NYC. Nothing to do with knives. If you were referring to me you should be much more careful about drawing conclusions. Especially if you are a moderator. Especially because you could be, and are , wrong.

Were you referring to me? If so, what resulted in your erroneous statement. If not, please explain who you were referring to? Thank you.

Take a look at the Gerber Applegate Covert for another choice, but it would be hard to beat the BM 710.

Hi Akula,

I work for SOG Specialty Knives...a company rep. I just wanted the postees of this thread to know I was here making a post. I try really hard to avoid "sales pitches" in the forums at large (I am a bit more bold in the SOG Forum). I was just warning everyone I was here. If you read my post, I tried to allow the knife to stand on its own as a lefty-friendly knife, then leave it up to you.

I did not intend my post to detract from the topic of the "best lefty production knife."

Sorry, the internet can lead to misunderstandings - this time by me. Too many beers on a Saturday night.

Apologies to all, especially the moderator.
