Good morning knife knuts. I have been a lurker here for a while now, basically doing research on knifes I want and picking up knife-related skills. This has been my main go-to website for information on adding knives to my never ending list :D

I am fortunate enough to be able to EDC fixed blades at my work. Thru good info and background learned on this place, I recently bought an ESEE 6 that I'm very pleased with. I also did a drop leg belt attachment for the kydex using a cheap sheath I had no use for. Now, the thing is that I like 550 paracord for handle wraps and having it wound around the sheath with the ends used for leg tie. What I have noticed is that 550 tends to work loose after a while (unless you do a series of knots, which I find to be non practical).

I tried something different with my SOG Seal. I knotted a shoelace to the bottom of the kydex, and it works better than the 550! It doesn't work loose, and it's softer on the inside of the leg. My concern now is that I probably will switch all my leg ties to shoelaces, but still want to keep the 550, maybe wrapped around the sheath. Does any of you guys have any suggestions for an alternate cord for leg tie? like, something tough that won't loosen up and feel comfy when tied tight against the leg?

I dont know what knot you tried on the 550, but a zeplin knot or similar is easy to learn and tye and has never worked loose on me. It is easy to untie when you want as it does not jam like some others might. Granted that a flat strap or flat shoelace will indeed be more comfortable.

and how do you attach that strap to the holster?

to sharpguytoo: thanks for the info! I had no clue what the heck was a zeppelin knot but I googled it...and man does that knot work! I'm using it now quite frecuently, but also goint to start using toggle locks on the cords.
