Best light beer ?

Real men don't drink light beer. Real men drink Guiness. ;) :D

Diet beer? Blechh.

Did you know you don't need to buy storebought light beer, you can make your own! Take any regular beer, pour half down the sink, and top off with water. No difference really. :)

Frankly I've never tasted a light beer that didn't remind me of urine. if you need to get drunk - switch to something with a higher proof ( and stay off the damm roads). If it's a calorie issue - drink one or two good beers instead of a sixer of those foul things.
yech - I'm getting a bad taste in the my mouth just thinkin about it - where's the whiskey?

REAL men in the Pacific Northwest drink Henry Weinhards.

My favorite is the private reserve, followed by the Blonde.

The Blonde is not an actual light beer, but it drinks like one.

I'm currently enjoying their Hefeweizen. Very good.

In England, teenage girls drink vodka. Real Men drink Real Ale.

Teenage girls drink cheap vodka diluted with juice or soda.

Three fingers of good 'tater vodka, straight up and room temperature with a bit of lime squoze into it ain't no sissy drink for little girls.

The best light beer I have ever had was the Kolsch I brewed 2 summers ago. I used mostly pilsner malt extract and some pale malt I had left over. I used Spalt and Hallertau hops in pellet form. It came in at around 4.2% ABV and, after cold-conditioning was the most delicious and refreshing light beer I have ever tasted. Kolsch is really an ale but drinks more like a lager due to the cold conditioning. I call it a light beer because it does not have a strong malt character and has a rather thin mouth feel finishing with a lip-smacking hoppy bitterness, but it is both stronger and more flavorful than any of the commercial "light beers."

I can not identify any redeeming qualities in any of the commercial light beers, so I can't say that any of them would be "better" or even "less character-free" than the others - although I have used them a couple of times to extinguish flare-ups while grilling at cook-outs.

Best Light Beer out there!

Calorie-wise, Guinness is a light beer. PROBLEM SOLVED! Plus it's got stuff in it that keeps away the cancer (flavanoids and other anti-oxidants)

Seriously, Amstel Light is good as far as production beers go. Since you live in the Pac NW, you should have plenty of craft brews to experiment with.

If you really want light beer, drink Coors Light or Miller Lite.

Coors Light is my go to beer, go ahead laugh. I've drank a lot of beers, so I know what I'm missing, but for after work or after mowing the lawn, its just what I like.

But the point of my post is that those two are actually the least bad for your "diet" (Miller Lite is less than 100 calories and 3.2 carbs) if you are looking for a light beer.

Guinness Stout : 16 oz serving is 170 calories
Miller Lite : 16 oz serving ~ 128 calories

I will take the 42 extra calories :)

Sam Adams lite is about 165 calories per pint and is pretty good as well

Real men of the Northwest drink Rogue Dead Guy Ale, Alaskan Amber, Broken Halo Ipa...
