Here's my favorite:

I believe it's called "cracked ice celluloid," and both of these knives are by Bruckmann of Solingen, Germany.

Does anyone know if "french ivory" is actually a type of celluloid, or something different?

Hi,

I was told by an antique dealer that french ivory is celluloid for what that is worth.

What knife is that? Looks very gentlemanly.

I do have some favorites, the one center bottom is probably the one I like the most. It is a Fight'n Rooster Big Apple 1996.

The top one could be considered a Senator or "Equal end pen knife" since the ends are symmetric.

The lower one would be a "jack knife" since both blades pivot from the same end.

But with the addition of the corkscrews, they're often referred to as "bartender knives."

My favorite.. a STA-SHARP
Nice. I have some in that imitation pearl celluloid also.

I love those short bolsters too. That's a knife feature that's so far eluded me in my accumulating.

Fight'n Rooster has the coolest celluloid I've ever seen. They had a type of celluloid called "end of day" (IIRC) that is amazing. There's a thread on here somewhere with a ton of gorgeous cell Fight'n Roosters- very drool worthy.

Here's a cracked ice, or, as known on the street, MOTS:D!

The front advertises citrus, and the back advertises a produce distributor.

Here is a nice old Schrade Norfolk Jack. I usually shy away from cell because of the risks, but this one was hard to refuse!

A couple of Buck 303 celluloids of recent years manufactor. White is offered over a couple of year stamps, Black is rare.

I would have to say End Of Day Fightin' Roosters is my favorite. I have no pictures, because I have been out bid, out budgeted multiple times for these precious little gems. One day I will be able to post a picture of my End of Day Rooster.

The first is a French Ivory ( celluloid ) Wolstenholm. From the 30's by SK's estimate. Fine parallel lines through it don't show well, but were an attempt to imitate the grain in real ivory.

The second knife is one of my two favorite cells. Some folks claim this is Pyramite, and believe it is more stable than the usual cell.

I have always liked the waterfall celluloid like the Schrade Norfolk jack that Charlie posted. It shows up occasionally on older knives, both in that brown and in green. If I wasn't so leery of buying old cell, I would get one.

Charlie has so many great knives that I think he should send his cell to me for safe storage. :D

Another Wostenholm, with exposure adjusted to show the grain lines of the French ivory.

In my current Peanut search, I looked at Bulldog knives over at Parker's. Looks to be some very nice celluloid on those knives. A sampling...
