Hello, I have a Benchmade Mini Ritter Grip, a Spyderco Spin, and numerous SAKs. I have a Spyderco Sharpmaker so all my knives are razor sharp. However, I do not have any oil to apply to my knives.

So what is a good lubrication for knives?

i am a total baby noob and miltec works good for me, I work(ed) in a very dusty environment and this didn't collect any dust on the moving parts of a spyderco merlin or benchmade mini-ambush so...maybe that will work...

Tuf Glide and Miltec work great but for me, I simply use 3 in 1 oil. I find a little drop will keep things working just fine.

thanks! can you buy mil tec in any department or hardware store? Because there are hardly no gun shops in my area.

A drop of electric motor oil in the folding mechanism periodically keeps my knives walking and talking nice and slick. Just a dab will do, too much will attract dirt and gunk things up.

I'll put in my two cents (don't know if its worth that) but I like mineral oil for any knife that might be used on food (including an edc). There are other oils that will provide more protection, be more (or less) viscous and be more (or less) prone to gunking up a folder.

But mineral oil is tasteless, odorless and won't as far as I know, harm any common knife or sheath materials. (might soften & darken leather). Its also cheap and readily available at the drugstore (you can also take it if you're stopped up  )

I usually use gun oil but I have 1 knife that I can't take apart so I sprayed silicone in and around the pivot and it worked great.

Militec works great and lasts a long time but I believe it must be heated or "baked" on for full effect (otherwise its good but not as good as Tuf Glide IMO), Tuf Glide is my all around favorite, and Mineral Oil is great for food grade knives.

the best all around lube imho is tuffglide, followed by remington gun oil in the little yellow bottle at walmart for $1.29 or so, militec is good also for some knives but is too thick for some (ie OTF autos) same for breakfree.

I've used a bit of Tri-Flow on my folders for years. Pretty easy to find at hardware stores, bike shops...
