Looking to buy the best machete you can get. Looking for advise. I've broken or ruined too many machetes and I want one that made to take it. From Cliff Stamps reviews it would seem that the Martindales are quite nice... any opinions of who makes the best machete. I'd like to keep my price under $100.00 (Which for a machete ought to be top of the line). Looking for something in the 24" to 30" blade range with a traditional shape. Not interested in short little camp machetes.

I don't know if it's the best out there, or if it what you call a "short little camp machetes", but this a great one. Take a look at the BK6. You may have to shop around for one, but they are very nice IMHO. Here are a few pics of mine that I took camping.

Tramontina makes a tough machete, but I'd select an 18 inch Ontario and put the rest of the cash in a 401k.

hey JohnWayne, howdja bust that Recon Tanto, if I may ask? I keep one in the trunk figuring that it's a do-anything beater, but that pic makes me wonder . . . .

get an Ontario, send it to Justin Gingrich for a regrind / reshape and you've got yourself a good working machete. Or buy a traditional golok...say from the East, or, if you can't find one...get one from Valiantco.
