i got some 01 1095 knives that have high carbon and rust quickly . what is the best blade metal i should be looking for on a knife that i would at the beach camping alot ??

First, I would recommend that you begin the practice of cleaning and oiling your carbon steel-bladed knives after using. Do that regularly and you can continue to use those O1 or 1095 knives and never see a spot of rust.
If you don't want to deal with that at all, then I'd suggest you go with Spyderco's H1 steel. Won't rust at all.
All other steels that are listed as 'stainless' are corrosion resistant, but not rust-proof.

I'd say just stick with what you have with the O1 and 1095 knives and just be sure to maintain them and oil them...

If you must have a 'stainless' steel blade, then just do some browsing on your favorite knife retailer website and buy what you like and best fits your purpose...

Mike

Another reccomendation H1.

It's the only real option for salt water.

Check out Spyderco's Salt series.

Another for H1. I've been using a Pacific Salt non-stop for eight months, and it hasn't developed the slightest hint of corrosion.

H1 literally will not rust, and there is a lot of different knives to choose from. Just look for their "Salt" series :)

H1 is bullet proof when it come to non rust.

s30v, 154cm, vg10, and 440c, are some others that will do ok as long as you don't leave mosture on them for a long time.

I wonder how tough H1 is?
Could you make a kabar style knife out of it?

Considering some pictures of testing Spyderco has done on that steel I'm pretty confident in it's toughness. :)

Oh yeah, I nominate H1. True rustless steel.

Because the steel is work hardened during the grinding process as opposed to a traditional heat treatment, the blades are incredibly tough. The edge is the only hardened portion (and is continuously rehardened when you sharpen it) so it can take a ton of abuse. When I was at the Spyderco booth at the SHOT show, they had a Pacific Salt blade that was bent 90 degrees! No cracks, breaks, or fractures! This is also the reason why H1 is known to develop visible scratches easily. :)
