Best Method for Sharpening S30V and 440C?

Well, the title asks the question.

What is the best method (tool) to use for sharpening these? Standard sharpening stone? Special stone? Kitchen knife sharpening rod?

Thank you in advance.
 
I think it would depend more on the individual knife, but almost any sharpening system works. If in doubt get a sharpmaker- it is nearly universal for sharpening anything, and inexpensive. :thumbup:
 
Just don't use an electric knife sharpener, the kind that you drag the blade through a little slot in the top of the machine.

I use the Spyderco Sharpmaker too, and it's fairly simple to use. It's relatively inexpensive and easy to set up. It includes to grind angles, and two sets of ceramic triangular rods (coarse and fine) to work the edge of whatever you're working on.

It can't get simpler than that. If you need more grind angles, or sharpen a lot of knives, you should consider the Edge Pro system.
