Best method to tighten a looose blade ?

I always check my EDCs to make sure they are not gravity knives, and that they can not be flicked open in any way, even if the blade is tight when opened.

What is the best method to tighten a pinned blade ? I have used a hammer against steel, but have found this can cause marks.:mad: Is this the only way?

When I had access, I used to use a vice with smooth jaws. Sometimes I'd put dead copper on over the jaws to prevent marking, but just being careful worked (and allowed deformation).

Now, I just use a large Knipex Plier-Wrench, with care.

It's apply a bit of squish, check, repeat as required.
