Hi All,

What's the perfect movie to put in the VCR after the Thanksgiving feast?

Mine are: 'Force Ten from Navarrone,' and 'Bridge Over the River Kwai.'

I'm seeking new suggestions for this year, and would appreciate any input.

So far, I'm hinging on 'The Blues Brothers' series and the 'Lethal Weapon' series.

Chris

PS-I know that evryone who visits the froum doesn't celebrate Thanksgiving...but if you've got a good video idea, I'd still appreciate it--doesn't matter where it comes from to me.

And have a...

Hope you won't be sorry you asked, but I'll just go ahead and be who I am. For pure entertainment and adventure, I prefer a steady diet of Stallone. (Yeah, go ahead and tease me; I'm just a real sensitive kinda guy.) Johnny Rambo could even be more fun if he'd lose that knife OD'd on 'roids and wield a khukuri. Think about it...a SN1 or WW2 for the first flick, Cheetlang for 'Nam, and the Afghan for Part 3. Any other cutlery suggestions? Sorry, but no chick-flicks for me. The spouse can get those in with HER buds!

Addendum: Hope all who read this have a safe and blessed time of thanksgiving. We've been joking about carving the turkey with a khukuri. No decision yet, but the Cheetlang will most likely get the nod. Some more Biltongs might be needed to complete each place setting. That's for X-Mas, as we can make-do with the Mini-Jungles for now.

I second Jaeger's list whole heartedly but would add Patriot and Farewell To The King (with Nick Nolte) to the list. Both excellent movies along similar themes (warriors).

Never easy this! I would say:

The Man Who Would Be King
Saving Private Ryan
Silverado

but also for backup,

Romeo and Juliet (by Baz Luhrmann)
The Indiana Jones series of movies, not any of the 'made for tv' crap
The final Blade Runner

Something for everyone there, all damn fine movies. Oh yeah, plus anything by Disney for the kids.

I have a problem with my mother when she comes to visit. Anytime the tv is on, no matter what, she talks louder than the tv. In fact, she seems to be compelled to talk about stuff just because the tv is on, can't seem to just relax. I get annoyed and turn the tv up, she talks louder (about nothing).
Eventually, well, no doubt you can imagine - she sulks and everyone else is p-o'd. Women.

Thanks guys, that's just what I needed.

David, just keep her wine glass full. Pretty soon she'll be aspleep in the arms of Bacchus.

Jaeger: Seige of Firebase Gloria

GREAT MOVIE, especially for me, an F LEE ARMEY fan and a former Cannon Cocker.

I know this post is kinda late for after Thanksgiving movies but here's my 2 cents.

The movie "Entrapment" has a scene where a shopowner unsheaths a kukri and holds it against the neck of the heroine. Unfortunately, he gets smashed in the face with a vase a few seconds later.

I don't own a kukri but am trying to learn more about this facinating knife/sword. Maybe someday. Maybe someday soon?

Any Godzilla or Bruce Lee movies. But "ENTER THE DRAGON" for sure. Nothing beats mindless entertainment on a full stomach. Monty Python 's HOLY GRAIL is a good choice too.

If you're talking about favorite war movies, here are a few of mine:

Platoon
Sniper
Full Metal Jacket
Too Late the Hero
The Devil's Brigade
Saving Private Ryan
