Best multi tool for $30-40

I second that, I have the larger regular swisstool rs. They are practically bomb proof. If you absolutely cant get the swisstool, maybe a leatherman kick, fuse or blast?

As an alternate to a full size multi tool, check out a swiss army champ plus, for about $32 online. It has everything the champion has except the pliers.

What exactly are you looking for. I am a Leatherman fan, but I love the Vic models as well. I would say a Leatherman Blast or Vic Spirit. Also, Leatherman Core can be had for under 45. It is a beast of a tool though.

I really like my Letherman Blast. I paid more like $50 for it but maybe you can find a deal.

Almost every multi-tool in my "collection" was acquired from Target and other store closeout sales, or special online offers. Samples: Core, $32; Juice CS4, $27; Swisstool Spirit, $30; Swisstool, $20 (with coupon plus sale price); Super Tool, $15 (store closing), and there were others, all NIB and free delivery from the net sources. Sometimes the blowout prices are even lower, but almost anything you might want will be, at some point, available within the $30-40 range.
.
Big but, you have to be patient. Most of the better sales take place a few weeks before and after the year end holidays, although you never know when something might pop up from Amazon or another internet seller at any time of the year. I have found some good deals in all seasons.

So, keep a sharp lookout and don't settle for just anything. You don't have to.

You have to decide if you want/need a pliers based tool or a knife based tool. From there you can start thinking about which tools, locking blades, outside opening, one hand opening, materials, etc.

I've gotten several barely used models on e-bay in this price range that would otherwise retail for $75+. Good luck!

Leathermans are the most expensive of them all (why? who knows), for that price you could get a new Kick (with plastic parts), maybe a blast if your lucky.

The SOG S60 Powerlock is on the top 2-3 in most folks list.
It's tough and well engineered and can be found new & used on ebay for well under $50.

If weight is an issue, yet you still want locking tools, you might check out the LM Fuse. I love mine. All the tools that I need with a low weight. You have to fish out the knife if you want to use it, but for the times that I need the simplest of tools and I am going to be around sheeple who would find a one hand opening blade on my surge a little scary, the fuse gets the job.

Two options , non plier based Vic. Farmer . Plier based , Vic. Spirit . Nuff said . Felinevet will hook ya up , an profits go to a good cause .

Skulk around on that auction site. I grabbed a brand new Leatherman Wave there for $30 + shipping recently. Some good deals to be had if you're patient.
