my younger brother is a veritable Prodigy when it comes to musical instruments and whenever im home he asks to borrow one of my Knives or Multi-tools so he can tune up or re-string one of his dozens of instruments (everything from Guitars, basses, pianos even a Banjo and many more) i was thinking about getting him a new multi-tool and a knife for himself Any recommendations? preferably as sheeple friendly as possible and lets tr to keep the combo under $80

Cheers!

Leatherman Skeletool CX. would be my preference.. Maybe a Leatherman WAVE. The cool thing for me about the Skeletool is that is is so lightweight, I am rarely without it. It also is the most comfortable handle when using the knife of any multi I own.

im no musician and i wont claim to know aything about the needs od a musician but a leatherman would have every tool anyone would need.

Basic Leatherman like the Kick would be fine.

No offense to archieblue, but the Skeletool is just a gimmicky version thats more ergonomic with less tools. Its easy to EDC, but the Kick is about twice as versatile.

i too am a musician... so i have first hand experience with this. i would recommend some kind of Leatherman multitool. basic one like the kick will work. i personally like the wave, just cuz you can get access to the tools without opening the pliers up, but any quality multitool will be just fine.
goodluck.

An LM Juice is small enough not to take up too much room in an instrument case, and can still snip guitar strings.

Agreed. I too am a musician. I'd say he'll want/need ability to snip wire strings, some smallish screwdrivers, and a small file. I keep a JuiceP in my gig bag and use it a lot. That and whatever slipjoint happens to be in my pocket at the time (usually used to cut up duct tape, etc.) always get me through.
