Alright fellow gadget-geeks! (and ai say that with the UTmost respect) I need some advice. I have been carrying the ORIGINAL Gerber multi-plier for about 9 years and I need a new multi-tool. I love the Gerber's on ehand "flick" action to get to the pliers. I HATE the way that I pinch my hands ll the time if I have to cut any sizeable wire. I HAVE to have the new lockable features and I would love to be able to swap parts out if needed. Any suggestions?

The Gerber Pro-Scout is just what you are looking for.
It does not pinch, all the tools lock, and you can still flick out the pliers.

The Gerbers are great tools and there are alot of options available for them. I personally like the smaller series.

For the record, I have been able to open all of my Leathermans with one hand once they have been adequately worn in.

Pick up a Victorinox Swiss Tool and I think you won't miss the flick.

I have 2 Leathermans (Wave & Super) and sold my Gerber.

The Victorinox is the best IMO. Since I got it the SAT (Swiss Army Tool!) is on my waist every day and the others have been relegated to my desk drawer and car.

Everything is accessable from outside, the handles are rounded, each tools is spring loaded so you never get 2 at once and the cheesy looking chisel is more useful than you may think.

I'd say, buy one and never look back!

you can not go wrong with the swiss tool.I have used most of the tools avaliable as a mechanic, and now only use the swiss tool.

Stay with the Gerber, just upgrade to the Scout with tool kit. I have this one, and love it. I also bought the Schrade Tough Tool, but gave it to my father in law. It was nice, but I liked the one hand opening when on a ladder.

Leatherman WAVE. IMO You CANT beat it. I have a Gerber and other than the neat flickable opening it can't compete. I just open the WAVE with a flick of a wrist a-la a balisong. I've had a regular Leatherman for 12 years now, and have TORTURED the poor thing. Other than a brocken blade tip it works great. The Gerbers I've seen seem to be made of pretty soft steel. The one hand opening feature of the WAVE's two (serrated and plain) knife blades is AWESOME.

If I'm goin' light, until the new Leatherman JUICE (www.leatherman.com) comes out it'll still be the good ol Victorinox Swiss Army Knife. Thanks for askin'...

I would agree with the posts on the Victorinox Swisstool... It's a tough mother, and very well made but it WEIGHS a TON!

The first knife was probably used to cut stuff.

I must agree with the Swiss Tool.

I have found this new Swiss Tool RS (Rescue/Survival) with the regular stuff on it, but instead of the file and another tool, it has the scissors and a new seat belt cutter on it. Cool huh?

Just interested to see if any of you have seen this one yet.
