I posted a question not too long ago to see what everyone thought would be the best concealed fixed blade.I came to the conclusion that a neck knife would fit my needs the best. I saw a few neck knives that had sheaths which had clips so one could clip it to a boot, pocket or whatever instead of just wearing it as a necklace. Well, anyway i just wondered what everyone thinks the best neck knife is and why.

Is Bud Nealy's Pesh Kabez a neck knife? I think it's sheath is also available with a clip or a belt loop.

Or what about the CRKT Stiff KISS, MDP Stiff KISS, or Neck PECK?

Yeah! Drop the chalupa...

IUBI, I'll be honest with you I really don't see the advantage of a neck knife though many on the Forums do. With that being said I think Bud Nealy's knives with MCS, gives you a lot of options in ways to carry, for me the last way would be on a cord around my neck and under my shirt, but that's just me.

There is a mini Nealy P_K configured for a neck knife carry.

So does Tom Mayo, RJ Martin and look at the Running Dog line (Mike Murphy http://www.runningdogknife.bigstep.com/ ), I think they are under priced for a hand made. His Pup is a great neck knife in the $35 range ($50 in BG-42). Also Newt Livesay's Wicked Knives line is a value rated line. Best (IMHO) factory line is the REKAT Utility (thanks Ryan!)

Copfish,

You know right now, there is only three BG42 pups out there.

I agree that REKAT is one of the better production one, especially with the MCS, but you're hard press to find since they are discontinued.

Blue's inspired Raker made "Lil' Blue" looks like a good one too and affordable.

Blue's inspired Raker? Hmmm, who makes that one or where can I get one? I am in the neck knife collecting mode this moonphase...

I agree with James. My personal favorite is the Sniper, also. The carry system is nice, too. Currently I am wearing it on my belt though it is usually around my neck. The blade style makes it a very useful tool.

Lynn did a good job with this knife.

Hey,
What the heck? I'll give a third nomination for the Griffith Sniper! I love mine and so does the wife. I must admit, it's a clever design and for a small knife, its ALL BUSINESS!

either Bud Nealy or Ed Chavar make great neck knives IMO. BTW, Bud is the one who taught Ed, but Ed has developed his own style now. I have one of his neck knives that can also be worn horizontally on a belt and it is fantastic.

Newt Livesay's Little Pecker for general purpose use, the Woo for defensive use. $22

There are two strings in the Spyderco Forum, titled neck knife 1 and surprisingly enough - beck knife 2 - which have allot of interesting ideas and thoughts about this subject - better take a look there too.

No way I can pick one favorite, but "favorites" are no problem. In alphabetical order:

Chris Hatin (Hatin TEC)

Ray Kirk (RAKER)

Fred Perrin

Rob Simonich

Each of the above makers creates well thought out, useful designs. You couldn't go wrong with any of them.

I currently have and use 20 neck knives, and this is one category in which you can spend 20 bucks for a STIFF KISS, or several hundred for a great custom, and get a decent blade at either end.I would suggest setting a dollar amount and looking at that area of the market.I can't name one favorite, but the Boker-Nealy is a great buy, as are all the Livesays.REKAT has at least two good ones, if you can find them.CRKT has at least three, which are all bargains........see what I mean?I don't guess I've been very helpful, but I know you'll find what you want if you'll just take a good look around.
