I'm thinking of adding a flipper to my collection. If price were no object, which manufactured flipper would you guys get?

thanks

Fred

Kershaw Bumps +1. I prefer the Ti ones myself because of the framelocks but they're all good. Now when I see an Assisted Opening knife I don't think it's complete without a flipper. Starting the AO knives with the thumbstud always seemed kind of klunky to me.:( Especially after having a Bump.

The TiLeek by Kershaw would be my choice I think for the smoothest easiest to use flipper model. Well, any Leek is a great choice actually, not just the Ti one.

If you want a really nice big flipper model the 300 series Zero Tolerance knives are pretty great assisted openers but if you want a flipper without the assisted opening try one of the Zero Tolerance 200 models. Its a manual opener with the flipper and I actually like it better than having the AO.

Kershaw has a handful of new non-assisted flippers that will be hittling the market very shortly. All collaborations with some of the most talented custom makers today. They are as follows:

Ken Onion -
Zero Tolerance 0200 - US Made, 154CM steel, 3D machined G-10 w/Liner lock MSRP $160.00. Available now.

RJ Martin -
Groove - US Made, 13C26 steel, Steel Frame lock w/G-10 overlay MSRP $84.95. Available in Dec.

Tim Galyean -
Junk Yard Dawg - US made, 13C26 steel, Steel Frame lock, MSRP $59.95 Dec. Delivery
Junk Yard Dawk II - US made, 13C26 steel, G-10 w/liner lock MSRP $79.95 Dec. Delivery.
If you are looking for more info, there has been some past threads on these 3 upcoming blades. There is also a current passaround on the ZT 0200.
Lahar- Made in Japan VG-10 steel, G-10 w/liner lock MSRP $99.95. Dec/Jan. delivery.

There will also be the debut of 2 more flippers (custom colab as well, can't say who quite yet) at the upcoming SHOT show in Jan. Sorry had to throw in that little tickler.

Both Kershaw Storms and Cyclones also incorporate flippers.

If your looking for assisted openers with flippers, we have a large variety to choose from, starting with the new Ken Onion Need's Work (Dec. delivery), others include;
Chives, Scallions, Leeks, Bumps, Boa, Baby Boa, Mini Mojo, Centofonte/Onion, Cyclones. plus the Zero Tolerance 300 and 400 series. Did I miss any?

Forgot to mention, all Kershaw Ken Onion SpeedSafe flippers are all proudly made in the USA as well.

From a production standpoint, the flipper category in general is neglected and much underrated. Even most on this board don't have a ton of experience with flippers (manual), as choices are limited.

The strange part is that from the custom front, flippers are HOT! Onion, Bogi's, Galyean, Williams, RJ, Carson, are all sold out at shows ASAP. Most have to hold auctions. Production is usually quick to jump on trends from the custom arena, but not in this case.

Kershaw is very high on broadening manual flippers as they are very beneficial in opening a blade one handed, and they a load of fun. Obviously from our list of flippers above, we just love all kinds of them, and will continue to blaze that flipper trail.

Look at 07 as a year where Kershaw increases flipper choices and assists the category in terms of raising awareness.

lol I thought you meant balisongs? I would second the 42 its a staple knife in the balisong community and I agree with leatherface on the recomendation, but I guess your not looking for that, are you? Or are you talking about speed assisted knives, Im confused...?
