I've been in the mood to see some more custom knife gorgeousness, and I thought I'd ask you this: What's your favorite knife from a particular genre?

For instance, I'd have to say, I think Claudio's hollow handled survival knife has to be my favorite of that type that I've ever seen. Really a stunning piece of work:

The Jason Knight Khukri would be pretty high on my list for that genre as well.

What knives have you seen that you think are really stellar examples of a particular style or genre?

I would have to agree with both your nominations :)

Claudio's version was the first hollow handle survival style knife that caught my eye since the First Blood Lile knife

& as for Khukuri's there is only one to rule them all :)

When it cokes to Fighting Bowies IMHO

Bill Bagwell will always stand tall with pieces like this

In the same class is Jason Knights Founders pieces

In a world of chisel ground, cord wrapped, resin soaked Japanese inspired blades the late great Phill Hartsfield will always own this genre because he started it.

Like hollow handled survival knives, WSK's have a certain following. You either love them or hate them and in the WSK world a Beck will always be the standard

Joe, i really like the character of that damascus in the Bagwell Fighter bowie. it is a perfect choice for the rustic and historical look of that knife!

Wow, just exactly what I was looking for. Excellent pieces there. I'm sure that Buster Warenski will find his way in somewhere; I'm just not sure where. Certainly best knife made out of gold, but he's kinda starved for competition there... I guess he'd be competing with himself.

Thanks David

Bill called that his Alamo Bowie and IMHO it is one of the finest Bowies he has ever done

He was going to keep it and I just kept hammering on him till he would let it go :)

IMHO it is probable the finest 11 inches of Satins Lace Bowie style blade in my collection

The blade is just proportion wise to my eye perfect

Buster will surely fit in here because in the genre of highest art form & finally finished knives on the planet Buster stands on top of that mountain with few peers. I will differ to Bob B to post up an example. I think it was said by Loveless that Buster was the finest Knife Maker out there.

Favourite hunter: Dan Farr. Compact, elegant and cuts like a laser. Ivory and engraving don't compromise functionality one bit - this one has been put to work.

Favourite Warhawk: John Cohea. Okay, I only have one, but it would still rank as a fave amongst many I have seen.

Favourite tanto: Stuart Branson. Only have one of these as well, but man, do I love this piece.

Favourite bowie: no FReAKIN WaY I can pick a favourite bowie - but this one will rank among my favourites in perpetuity - Bladeforums Benefit Bowie - a collaborative effort by Andrews, Farr, Fisk and Foster. Shown below with the backup blade (forged by Fisk, ground by Farr, but taken no further as the primary blade was successfully completed).
