What would be the best watches in this large catagory???

Whats your choice or Pick??

When it comes to the large ones I would say the following come to mind:

1. AP Royal Oak Offshore T3 52mm
2. Any Panerai in 44mm
3. Omega Railmaster 49mm
4. IWC Big Pilot 46.5mm
5. Panerai PAM 127 AkA "1950" 47mm
6. AP Royal Oak Offshore 44mm
:D :D

I'm sure I have forgotten a few............

Thanks,

Jon

What do you mean by best?

I still love my 45.5mm Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean but i also would love to have a Panerai. My plan is to treat myself with a Panerai for my 30th b'day present.

:)

Breitling Chrono Avenger !!!!

Too bad I have a small wrist, so I wear a Breitling Colt ChronoOcean instead.

I have had this watch for over a year now and simply love it. I get compliments on it all the time and it's very accurate.

I'm lucky enough to live a few miles from Countycomm and was in there one day when I saw the watch. I bought it on the spot and have never regreted it. BTW, the CC price was about $50.00 less than any internet price.

Here is a pic of the watch.

I'd have to vote for the IWC Portuguese Chrono Automatic:

What a beauty!

EDIT: Wait...it is 40.9mm...Doh!

The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean would work. ;)

Panerai PAM00061D was and still is my choice. Simple, manual wind, no day/date, tobacco dial:

My Casio Sea Pathfinder SPF-40-1VDR is about the largest, and coolest watch I've ever owned...It's so big, it's like having a wall-clock strapped to my wrist.:D.

Hello,
But it is still not as big as the newer 47mm (PAMs) --Panerai

The 217 destro, 127 1950, 202 slytech, and ALL of the vintage radiomirs are in 47mm

Love that size!!!!

Jonathan

Hi jchubb-

From the list you've provided my vote would be for the IWC DIE GROSSE FLIEGERUHR to grace my wrist. The outstanding 5011 caliber movement tilts the vote in my opinion.

I wish you guys would stop posting all the pics of the super cool watches.
My Amex card is starting to smoulder:D

.......one day, perhaps...

My TSAR is 47mm & seems a bit small on my wrist, anyone have a Zeno XXXL? At 55mm it might even be a bit too big for me & not sure about their quality...

the g-shock are good for a while, but I've found that sun screen and insect repellant eat away at the rubber coating and wristband giving it a mottled appeaance and eventually degrading the plastic so much that it eventually breaks after 24 months; mine is currently sitting on a shelf awaiting a replacement band, but i think I might get one of these cool loking metal watches next! :)

Hi All-

My feeling is that "big watches" are here to stay. Unlike fads, there is genuine utility to the large-faced format in that they have fantastic legibility under a variety of conditions. Try reading a small watch or a digital model while riding a motorcycle at dusk...it is very difficult. My minimum size for a new watch is 42mm these days.

I'll revive this thread since I have gotten the watch bug lately, and tend to buy only larger 44mm+ watches. So far, in the last several months, I have bought a Sinn U1, a U2 and a Muhle Galshutte Rasmus diver, I had to sell the U2 unfortunately to pay an unexpected bill, but I still have the U1 and the Rasmus, both are 44mm watches and while they are different, they are each amazing watches in their own respective ways.
