Many of the long time Emerson collectors will remember how difficult a task it was to buy a custom. It was not so very long ago that it was a rare and genuine achievement to get all of the CQC knives for instance. Yet as I type, the opportunity exists to nearly do just that! For starters, there are CQC5s at three different BF advertisers (Bladeart, Knifeart,CKD), plus Bladelaw; CQC6s at two others (AZCK & Nordic); CQC7s at one (Knifeart) plus KF; and CQC9s at some of the same already noted. Not to mention Les with his neck knives, or Larry's Viper 1, etc. There are a ton for those interested! Heck, I have one or two I might sell to someone who I liked...

But, as Dickens so wisely observed - it is the worst of times too. Two reasons for that. One is the prices have kept pace with or exceeded inflation over the years, so to get the CQC quints costs roughly twice what it once did. And, its so hard to keep up with finding them before they're gone. No help for either difficulty to be offered to the Usual Suspects. But it is certainly an interesting phenomena that has not heretofore existed.

What do you others think about this state of affairs?

jbravo,

I hear you. To make it more interesting the price on the newer 2000/01 dated items seems to be comming down in comparison to the older non-dated CQC knives.

Also is it me or are we seeing more unique, one off customs comming to the market at the moment? I have only been following Emerson customs for the past couple of years, but it seems as though things have changed in the past couple of months.

Regards,

Ed

While you're right, the knives are there. The economy at least for me
dictates that I can't buy all the Emersons I'd like as I've been out of work for 13 months. I'm a student now, not very easy when you considered I've been working in the firearms industy for 25 yrs. But I gotta say, When I saw thosa CQC-9s come up...........
How many other suspects have felt the crunch??

The thing that keeps popping up in the back of my mind is I wonder if there are as many knives showing up in the hands of those that got their order in, as are hitting the secondary market(maybe orders are being filled and hitting the secondary market?). It seems that a lot of knives are being made and brought to shows, but not a lot of people are reporting getting their order filled (I assume that the people active on this forum are a very small portion of those that have their orders in). I'm still hopeful that my 6 and 8 will one day show up, but it is frustrating at times to hear about all of the customs that were at a show. Oh well, I'm still hoping to win that lottery, and then watch out! :)
