Just wondering... what oil does everybody use on a knife that will be working with food?

Get food grade mineral oil. It can be found at places that sell wooden cutting boards, TJ Maxx, Bed, Bath, and Beyond, and resturant supply stores. The mineral oil will not spoil like canola/veg/olive oils can.

Or just get it for a bunch cheaper at your local drugstore in the laxative aisle. Same stuff.

If it is a kitchen knife that will get daily attention, you can go with olive oil.

If it's non stainless you can spray it with PAM and wipe off the excess...

USP mineral oil.

You can get a 12oz-16oz bottle for a about $3-$4 at any pharmacy or supermarket.

I have got very good results with Jojoba oil, non toxic and soaks in leaving a hard stabilizing finish.
