Best oil to use on unused knife collection?

I am trying to find out what the best oil to use for my collection of traditional folders and some fixed blades. Most of the knives are 1095 high carbon steel and are all safe queens. Never used. I want to keep the knives looking like they just left the factory for as long as possible. What is the best oil to use to achieve this goal. Is there any tips and tricks you longtime collectors have to keep the knives from any oxidation? A process you follow to keep your knives in pristine condition? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks

I would consider something that is not runny, and make sure you have some type of desiccant in your safe. I have used all types of products over the years and have only ever seen some rust on a carry knife here and there in super hot and sweaty conditions.

Sentry solutions tuff cloth might be a good product for you. It is more like a dry film and not something that will drip or drain off of your blades.
Best of luck.

I use desiccant packs in a lock box I have. Going to invest in a watertight/airtight box soon. I wipe off knives once a month. I want to apply a small amount of oil to keep on top shape, just want the best.

CLP gun oil has never failed me, even on my 1940 era carbon machete, and an equally old rifle :D

I've used "RIG Universal Gun Grease" for over 40 years now. RIG is not a lubricant; however, for protection against rust during long term storage, I believe you will be pleased with this product to protect your treasured knives and guns. Just Google RIG Universal and you will see many sites for more info.
If you decide to try some, just rub it in good using circular motions (be careful around sharp edges) then gently wipe the excess leaving a thin film and your good to go. It will darken some wood and other handle materials so use your best judgement around these areas as you might or might not like the effect. Hope this helps.

A watched a video of three different lubes. Forget which ones they were but frog lube won. I use it on everything. It is also the best pivot lube I have ever used.

Break-Free "Collector" , same company that makes CLP. Different formula for long term storage of guns and knives.

My storage for tools , knives , guns is a thin coating of RIG and some VPI paper [Vapor Phase Inhibitor ]

I've used RIG for years. Burt Foster (ABS Mastersmith) recommends it for his blades. If it's good enough for Burt, it's good enough for me.

Mineral oil or 10w30.

Nothing particularly magical about oil.

I've seen a couple videos in the past comparing different rust inhibitors.
I imagine you can google it and find some from YouTube.
I remember being surprised by some of the results, but it looked like Eezox gun oil was one that came out on top.
Haven't tried it yet, but did purchase some for future use.

I use Renessaince Wax and Hornady One Shot because of the report AVigil mentioned. Also WD Corrosion inhibitor, but primarily outdoor stuff because it's thick and viscous.

If I were going to store knives or guns for a longer period of time I would use a product called Rustlick. We use it at work for packaging of products made of O1 and 4140. I have seen long term corrosion protection durations in the years of non climate controlled storage of these products.
