It looks like I'll be ordering a (non-serrated) 2002 Commander either this Friday or the one 2 weeks after this one. I've looked at all kinds of online dealer sites, and none show or advertise 2002 Commanders. All the pictures are of pre-2002 models.

It would also be great if I could find a dealer that would actually inspect the knife for blade rubbing on liners, etc, before they ship it...

BTW, I want to express my appreciation for you guys in this forum. I ask a LOT of questions.

Edited to note that I'm looking to buy a non-serrated 2002 Commander...

Lynn, don't just go by the picture. Bladeart is know for thier excellent service, but thier web site updating is a little lacking . . . Hell I don't even look at the site much anymore, I just call and order . . . they have EVERYTHING!!

John, based on your recommendation, I just emailed Bladeart to see if they'll have any plain edge 2002 Commanders in stock in the next week or so. Earlier today, I emailed TAD about the same thing.

Ida at Bladeart emailed me saying they'd put in an order for some commanders a few weeks ago, might have some 2002 Commanders in a few weeks. I've rec'd no reply yet from TAD...

Are 2002 Commanders rare?

Actually there've been a few threads on the 'hard to get' '02 Commanders. I don't know if thats the case now but a few months ago they were a rarity.

I waited 5 months for my '02. Usually I would've just canceled the order after so long but the deal was too good so I just waited...impatiently...

Tell me about it! But for $75 absolutely NIB it was well worth it. Just had mine V ground today and I'm liking it more. I'm a lot more comfortable and used to V ground blades.
