Think I'm finally going to pull the trigger on a small Classic with micarta.

Having only bought one other Sebbie, I don't know much about retail outlets for these knives.

My Google-fu shows a $400 price tag everywhere. Are there any places that sell these knives below MSRP, or is that pricing a condition of being a CR dealer?

Yeah, that's a requirement. I found a new small classic (or maybe it was a regular, I can't remember) once (didn't jump on it unfortunately) new for $275, but I think since the classic plains are discontinued, maybe the price fixing doesn't apply anymore.

Retail Pricing is a CRK Dealer Requirement. The only time I have ever seen dealers discount the Chris Reeve Knives is when they were going out of business, or were discontinuing CRK from their store. Other than that, its retail price. Even with the retail price, your getting a top of the line knife. So you will not be dissappointed.

On ebay I've noticed that some of the dealers will give free shipping so that's sort of a hidden, very small discount.

Very True. There is an ebay dealer "customerfavorites" that I have bought a couple off of over the years on ebay and they were absolutely great. They offer free shipping.

Plaza Cutlery, New Graham Knives, (Only Fine Knives has -free shipping)True North Knives, All Are Great !!! And as always, from CRK themselves. Heather and Charmaine are the greatest !

In my experience, ALL the CRK dealers I have delt with are great and have your back. I am sure CRK makes sure the dealers have a great reputation before they are allowed to stock his knives.......Since the prices are the same everywhere and since I consider the dealers to be great, I just basically look around and find the wood I like best if your looking for a particular wood. If you can save $10-$15 in shipping, thats like finding money. Especially in this day and age when money is tight.

If you're looking for a deal I would go on the sales areas of all the different knife forums. I recently got a NIB Small Micarta 21 for around $300 Shipped. If you're going to pay retail anyway I would order directly from CRK.

yeah, its pretty much about 400$ new. in canada its not available for less or in canadian dollars. you pays your money and you takes your chances. only its not really a chance. it rocks.

I'm not quibbling about the $400 price tag. I know they're worth the money. I had a large with graphics, but I sold it--but only because I've never really been able to sustain affection for knives with all-metal handles/scales/etc. Having finally held a Sebenza with the inlays, I think I'll get to have my cake (great knife) and eat it too (feel and grip of micarta).

I just didn't want to shell out four bills and then find out a week later I could have bought for considerably less. Thanks to all who responded.

I don't think you'll find anywhere they are less expensive. If you do--watch out--it may not be a reputable dealer.

I think you just find a reputable dealer that you trust and order it.
I had ordered from KSF in the past and it was always a good experience so I ordered my large Sebenza from them. I ordered it and it shipped the same day. I received it Monday and couldn't be happier.
