I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on my first quality EDC folder and I'm pretty sure its gonna be a CQC-10. where do you guys buy your Emersons?

Are you looking for one of his custom folders or one of his production knives?

SDS

i would say if its his 1st quality folder its a production but i could be wrong lol.

most folks on the 1st quality one wont wanna spend $1K on it.

I'm definitely going with a production for my 1st folder. I am talking to a couple of knife makers about a custom fixed blade though. I've been checking things out on line for a few weeks and I like the looks and reputation of the Emersons. I would really like to see one in person before I spend $140 - $180 on a new knife. I'm looking at the CQC 10 and 11 or maybe the Super 7. I want a waved, plain edge and dark blade. I have a Boker Top Lock I want to sell to fund the purchase of the Emerson. It was modified by a machinist friend of mine to make it an auto so I tried to list it in the classifieds here under autos but I cant get it to post. It says I'm not registered or some thing. I'm waiting for a reply from tech support. So right now I'm price shopping and hoping to find a deal on a used one. I was going to ask if you guys think the Emersons are worth the $$$ but I can guess the answer to that given the fact that this is an Emerson forum

You cant post in the for sale forum because you are not a paid member. Yes Emerson's are worth the Jack, but they are not for everyone due to the Blade grind. Have you ever owned a knife with a Chisel grind?

No I haven't and I didn't realize that Emersons were a chisel grind. are they all chisel grinds? that sucks about the paid membership deal. can I buy from this forum without being a paid member?

There not all chisel ground but the edge bevel is only on one side even on the knives with primary bevels on both sides.

Yes, you can indeed

while all are not CG's like haze said none are conventional "V" grinds either, they are all similar to CG's if not technically a CG, lol, confusing, huh??

long story short, none of them are a conventional "v" grind like say a spyderco delica, if thats what ya want ya dont want an EKI.

if you are in Canada, Warriors & wonders (google it) is the best place hands down to buy an Emerson. I have thre from Jay, the owner. :)
