Can anyone help here?
It's been a while, and I used to know this sweet website, that had tons of pics of each individual piece of Ironwood burl, that was actually for sale, thus allowing you to see the piece you were actually buying.
Very good prices too.
Just can't remember the site.
Can anyone help?
Thanks so much guys.

I've dealt with Chuck and his daughter Jessica many times. I do like buying from them, but I need to actually see the piece I'm buying, and that is why I was looking for the website I once loved so much. UNLESS the Bybees have since added this option to their site, I'll need to order elsewhere..
Damn that was a good website... Too bad I've lost it...

There was Judith "Lumberlady" Mattart, but she has sadly passed away.
Did you try the link to AKS? They have pics...

as others have mentioned aks u can see pretty much every piece of wood before u buy it. i just ordered some maple burl from them and got it within 2 days of my order.

I received an email yesterday(Friday), from Arizona Ironwood, notifying me that he would no longer be able to do the pictures of each piece of ironwood like he had been doing. There are some pictures of some ironwood scales on this site: www.knifescales.com

YUP i used to get mine at arizona ironwood...now it seems like itll be so much more of a hassle to buy from them...ill be looking for a new source!

I used to buy from Arizona Ironwood as well, but I've since stopped, as I like to see which piece it is that I'm buying.

Pop's knife suppy in Washington, Ga. has good prices on ironwood and his turn around on orders is very fast. :D  :D

To everyone who recommended AKS, thank you. We appreciate your support. We will always try to have wood photos on the website.

I don't know when we will have a new stock of ironwood burl. We are working with a new ironwood supplier. He travels to Mexico to buy the ironwood.

We got together a few weeks ago and he showed me pictures from his last trip. The working conditions were terrible. One Mexican ironwood provider cuts the wood using a motor attached by belt to a shaft supported by pillow blocks. A 10" saw blade is bolted to the end of the shaft. The shaft sticks out from the table about 18" and is about 30" from the ground so the blade is spinning in the open air. It reminded me of a long shaft buffer with a saw blade attached. There are no guards or safety equipment of any kind. The worker holds the ironwood in his hands and cuts scales and blocks! It is very common for the workers to lose finger(s) and/or be severely injured. We are working with the new supplier to provide table saws and some basic safety equipment for the men cutting the ironwood.

Hopefully we will soon have a fresh supply of ironwood and ironwood burl.

I just used some of your ironwood on one of my knives Chuck, very nice pattern and colour. Glad you are helping workers work more safely, I hate to buy stuff made in bad conditions
