Best place to buy Spyderco James Keating Chinook II

I'll second New Graham. The band aid dispenser you get is mighty cool as well. ;)

I'll third New Graham.
Nice people to talk to on the phone and they had the Chinook II in stock at a good price.

If you can't find any in stock at New Graham, there was a bunch on Ebay recently.

New Graham,I spoke to Judy and they got it to me in 4 days(Combo Edge) with the band aids and dispenser that reads "YOUR GONNA NEED EM"

New Graham, definately. Great service and great prices. My collection of those band-aid dispensers is growing...;)

Thanks.

Someone told me that this knife isn't too good for tactical because the locking mechanisim is in the back and your palm can trigger it.

What about the Emererson Commander? Where can I purchase this one the cheapest... a reliable vendor...

Thanks

Do a search for Chinook reviews before you dismiss it based on one persons opinion. Does this person even have the Chinook? I own one and couldn't get it to accidently close if I tried. I've yet to read about accidental closures with the Chinook.
I promise you this, the Chinook's lock is a hell of a lot stronger and more reliable than any liner-lock :barf:

I don't think the chances of that happening are at all high.

I also want to get an Emerson Commander (and a Chinhook II as well)... Some people don't like the liner lock on the Commander fyi. However, I still want one! Wave feature is just too cool!

Try here for the Commander (and other Emerson knives): http://www.1sks.com/store/emerson-commander.html

I'd also check out like the Benchmade 710 or 806 (can be flicked opened) http://www.benchmade.com - as well as the assisted opening Camillus Cuda Dominator http://www.camillusknives.com

Hope that helps!

Let us know which you pick!

I have tried to disengage the lock and haven't been able to. The Emerson is a liner lock. Liner locks have been known to disengage as well. Some liner locks have been known to disengage while being torqued. I know many people that have sworn off liner locks. It really depends on the knife and how it is constructed. Some lockbacks are better than others. Some linerlocks are better than others. The Chinook II is rock solid.

The ultimate tactical would be a fixed blade, but that isn't always a choice for most of us.

For what it is worth I love Emerson's designs, but found the quality control to be somewhat lacking.

I'll make this offer to you, if you still want a Chinook II. If you get one and can make the lock disengage I'll buy it from you for New Grahams price. I say this because I believe in this knife.

The cheapest I've found is at http://www.anyknife.com/main/index.html for $143.

I don't know the site though and don't know if they are a reputable company. There's no phone number on the site so that makes me wonder.

You may want to ask on the Emerson forum, which is also hosted here at Bladeforums. They can probably point you in the right direction for an Emerson.
