Best place to find a 1980 vintage 110???

This is probably a long shot, but I would like to find a 1980 vintage 110 to add to my son's collection. I got him one from the year of his birth, and I think it would be cool for him to have one from the year of my birth for comparison value. How tough will it be to find one that hasn't been sharpened to death, with a sheath in fair shape? Please don't say look on ebay because idiots scare me (I know intelligent people use ebay, and I use it for some things, but people get strange about "collectible" items like an old knife). Any info or advice is greatly appreciated, and thanks in advance!

PS, I'm also particularly interested in knowing what to look for to determine 1980 manufacture. Thanks!

I do have one, but I'm keeping it. I don't doubt that there are some people who actively look for the three-dotter (just because it was only made that one year) so there may be some competition.

I got one by accident just buying a 110 of unknown vintage on e-Bay. It cleaned up well. Then, I saw one with a bad picture that looked like it might be a three-dotter and that's what it turned out to be. It was nicer than the first so I sold the first one.

I paid $25 and $30 for these and when I listed that first one as a three-dotter I got about $40-$45 for it. So, the way to do it is to watch for the ones that are not listed as being three-dotters and sometimes you can see from the picture that they are.

Since it's also the last one with 440C it does have a bit of special appeal, but if you keep after it you can find a good one.

The 1980 110 (as previously mentioned, called a "Three Dot") is the 7th version of the knife and there was only one variation for 1980.

IIRC, I got mine on e-bay for about the same price as Roc.
And, yep, you won't be alone in trying to find one.
In fact, I am looking for another to use as this one is a closet queen.
Cool old school steel...easy to sharpen, though it will need it relatively more often than some of my other users.

Here is the “Three Dot” tang stamp to look for:

I have a .110.. that I bought for my collection, just to get one. Looks like someone sharpened it on a grinder, and they tried to sharpen the swedge also.

Some folks just should not be allowed to play with sharp objects!
