Pretty straightforward question, just wanted to get some input from you guys. So far my choice is IAOknives.com (they seem to do affordable, high quality work), but I'd still like feedback.
Many thanks, have a good one

Edit: I probly should've mentioned that I wanna be able to choose the blade shape as well as other specs about the knife. I just like the idea of it being almost one of a kind.

There are a lot of very good Custom Makers here on BF.

Sketch out your design and make note of your steel choice. Find a maker that uses the steel you like that makes blades similar to your design. Then send them an inquiry. If they are not willing to make your knife, go to the next maker and so on.

This is like asking "who makes the best car", except 1000 times worse because there's countless custom and production blade makers. It's a very subjective topic.
I personally like Esee's. They give me what I need in a fixed blade. Also love Spyderco's Mule line for their premium steel options.

As for customs, I couldn't even begin, but I'd suggest picking based on the following:

1. Size/Ergonomics. Decide on the size you want and features that'll make it more comfortable to use for you. (ie - choils, FFG, weight, etc)
2. Steel/Materials. A good steel is important for obvious reasons. Also, handle material. Does he want wood, micarta, g10, etc.
3. Looks. Once you get into a price range of competitive options then materials will all be pretty good. Looks are very important.
3. Price.

That's just my 2 pennies :)

I agree. John at JK Knives is one I would recommend, his motto is "your design or mine"
