Quick question. With Black Friday sales all over, at the same price ($60, with a flashlight included), what's the best - Wave or Supertool?

Supertool 300, if you can handle the extra 3 ounces or so. Its big. But the Wave is Leatherman's best seller, and is more suited for EDC unless you are a real workin' man who needs the ST300.

Btw, you can find the ST300 for that price all of the time at a big auction site, though without the flashlight.

You can clip the wave inside your pocket, the 300 not so much. The fullsize tool are nice to have around, but they are bricks.

other than the heavy duty pliers, is there any difference in the sturdiness of the other tools/blades between the two? I have a Pulse, and a Vic Swistool, for comparison.

This is hard to answer without knowledge of what you encounter in your daily doings, so all I can offer is my personal input:

When I got my ST 300, I thought it would be good for tackling jobs requiring a bit more heft than my usual EDC, a Charge TTi (fancy Wave.) In practice, however, I have found the TTi up to my every task so far, and OH blade opening too convenient to abandon if I don't have to.

Although it is more substantial and comfortable to use, these days I hardly ever carry the ST 300 any more for EDC, although it gets an occasional workout for outdoor activities. There, I have more confidence in fixed screwdrivers to stay in place than the losable TTi bits. It's possible that my circumstances might change and the ST 300 become a better carry option, after all, so I'm hanging on to it.

I know you were stuck between the wave and ST, so I hate to give another option but why not the surge? To me it seems like the best compromise, full size yet has the outside accessible blades like the wave has. I personally have the surge black and don't leave home without it. You really can't lose with any of them though.

IMO, the Supertool's lock is more reliable, as it's a lockback, and IMO lockbacks are sturdier than linerlocks. In EDC chores though, the linerlock should be fine.

Hi,
I have the surge, the wave, the ST300 and the blast
The one I like the most is the wave mostly because of its lighter weight and the blade accessibility
I like the ST300 but it is too heavy and bulky

super tool 300+removable bit driver if u are tightening lots of bolts, cutting wires or need strong pliers to adjust sth.it works well for me(except i get the stiff one im gonna change it) but only at belt carry not something to throw in the pocket. But it rides very nice with molle sheat imo.

I have both and although I was a diehard SuperTool carrying fan, with the ST200 and then the ST300, I carry a Wave now with the bit extender and bit kit in sheath. I still have both my SuperTools but have retired the ST200 to my work bag and the ST300 to my truck gear. The SuperTools are a little bulky but not overbearing, IMO, but the Wave covers all my bases now and I am still very happy with all three. :D

I like the ST300 because I have big hands and the wave just seems to pooney, like that old garbage bag commercial hefty, heft, hefty or wimpy, wimpy, wimpy, yes I carried a wave years ago but went with the 4.5 inch ST200 then the Core and now the ST300. So the feel and fit in your hand may be part of your decision making process as well.

Wave for me, best combination of tools and weight. The SuperTool is great if you need the bulk and heft and replaceable wire cutters. I don't, so my bigger Leatherman is a Surge, which has outside accesible blades, unlike the ST. The Surge is only for around the house or in the car. If I'm lugging stuff around, like for hiking, it's Wave all the way!
