Hello!
I'm trying to find the best product for cleaning knives? I was using Flitz for stainless steel, but the store I got it at, no longer carries it.

I'm hoping there might be a good product at home depot or Loews that I could pick up?

Any help would be great! Thank you

Soap, water, soft towel.

Flitz is a polish. You aren't cleaning the knife, just making it a little bit smaller.

warm water and soap
if im in the office i sometimes use goo gone, wd40, rubbing alcohol and even windex to remove tape residue from opening shipping boxes

every other day when i get home i usually wipe down my knives with a ballistol saturated rag :)

an alternative to flitz ive seen at my local drugstore was MAAS.
you can probably head to the automotive store and pickup flitz or mothers mag polish

I used to get my flitz from the auto store, but can only find the chrome cleaner now and it says not to use on stainless steel. I'm on the west coast and suspect Flitz is not as well known out this way cause I've called 4 auto stores today and none of them knew what I was talking about, lol.

Zippo fluid is a super great solvent for removing tape or any gunk stuck on the knife. Use it all the time.

If it's grime on the blade, WD40 and a microfiber cloth are hard to beat.

If it's stains, it depends on the depth & staining material. I got some oxidation from wood work on a 1095 out with lemon juice and baking soda. If it's 1/8 inch deep rust, you're going to have to grab the Dremel...

Check your local music store (instruments, not the record store). They usually have Flitz.

I tried using some of that the other day, because I was too lazy to find the WD-40. I found that it evaporated too fast to to cut the gunk of the blade. I ended up finding the WD-40 and it did the trick.

Really hot water. Most versatile cleaning product out there, followed closely by Baby wipes. :D

Simichrome is a great polish. Works great on the staining you get on brass from leather sheaths. I have never seen at stores, just at gun and knife shows and online.

NevrDull is a low abrasive polish that works on stainless. It can be found in auto parts stores.

Hmm, I use it almost everyday and dont really have any issues. To each his own =)

Zippo fluid is mostly naptha, the same thing you find in charcoal lighter fluids like Kingsford and in Coleman camp stove fuel.

If you like using this, just buy a large container of Kingsford for the same price.
