My Cold Steel Voyager needs sharpening, my traditional whetstones don't cut it, what should I use? The stell is AUS 8 stainless

Maybe you could tell us more. What do you mean by traditional whetstones? Could it be that your stone(s) are loaded with steel particles? Seems like you ought to be able to sharpen 8A with almost anything, though for sure Arkansas stones would take longer than something like a Norton oilstone or a coarse grit waterstone.

Yeah, I don't think it should be that hard unless the stones are clogged or the blade is very dull and you're just using some very fine grits.

8A sharps easily. Your stones must be clogged if you're not having any success- I can do anything up to and including rock-hard D2 on a good stone.

My stones are fairly dirty. I have the three stone set. coarse, medium and fine. I will wash them out and try again.

Your stones may be glazed, in which case you should take something like 220 grit wet and dry sandpaper on a piece of glass or metal and rub it on the stone.

Be sure to clean your stones after each use, use whatever lubrication you're supposed to use, wipe the knife off between grits, etc.

lansky makes a ceramic sharpener for cold steel serrations (if it has them). You should be able to find it on their site www.lansky.com. They also make sharpening kits. Personally I use one of their kits, or I use arkansas stones, or a strop, whatever is called for.
