Best production flipper?

That’s like trying to pick the best super model or best IPA. There is no clear “best’...unless we’re talking Kate Upton...and Pliny the Elder... ok, still don’t know the best flipper.

This Reate New Torrent is the Bell’s Two-Hearted Ale of the IPA world .

But for real OP, this is the smoothest flipper I’ve ever experienced. Ceramic ball bearings (and detent ball). It literally falls shut and rockets open. Astounding quality in both the action, tolerances and f&f. Excuse my horrendous photography. It’s late.

No doubt Reate produces knives (for themselves and others) with amazing action and will have a place in this conversation. Obviously, answers to this popular question will vary depending on experiences and cost of admission.

My sample of the K2 still holds my vote for the best action in a production knife on bearings, for the money. Flipper or not (and what's the difference since it fires open) the ZT 0850 on washers is just as smooth in both directions - it's remarkable.

It really depends on what you mean by "best" and what you consider production (because technically all knives are produced, just not all in mass). Best action, best in terms of durability, ease of maintenance, best in looks, etc.

Without thinking too hard, I'd say someone like Shiro is probably up there, along with maybe Grimsmo and Thorburn. There are a ton of other makers though who do just as nice, if not nicer, work.
