Recommendation? Best production swaybacks?

I'm currently switching over to a two knife carry system with a larger modern folder and a small traditional. The swayback has always been my favorite traditional design so I'm looking to add a couple nice ones to my collection. I'm looking for one in the 2 - 3 inch range and a decent steel (something higher than the 440 family, hopefully). I'm not picky about handle material.

Recommendations (and photos) are appreciated!

In your size range and steel preference... I'm not sure I know of any productions off hand.
The Case mentioned doesn't have the steel quality you want, and the Viper mentioned is larger than you want.

You might find that with a two knife carry system, the smaller traditional knife won't see duty that will require a higher end steel. The Case Swayback Jack/Gent is one heck of a nice knife.

I'm not sure if you mean 2 - 3 inch blade or 2 - 3 inch closed length but I highly recommend the Viper Swayback. It's 3 5/8 inches closed with a 2 7/8 inch blade.

There's a Tuna Valley Phoenix Jack that looks pretty sweet too but it's not cheap.

I just always assume when talking about traditionals, the measurement is the closed length.
But now that it's been mentioned, coming from a modern knife background, he might have meant the blade length.
In that case, ya... The Viper Swayback is probably the best bet.

The new Tuna Valley swayback is 3 5/8 inch closed, so a little longer than your stated preference. They have your choice of either Raindrop Damascus blade, or 154CM Steel blade. So far only the Burnt Stag has been released in each blade type, but there are 5 other handle types being planned for this year.

Guess photos would be helpful.

Get a CV case swayback jack and try to wear it out. They generally have very nice fit and finish and a good practical combination of blades. Maybe you use your knife way harder than most people, but I bet the knife gets lost before it gets rusty or the blades fail to perform adequately.

The Case swayback or Gent, the single blade CV version in chestnut jigged bone is my favorite Case pattern. A big knife in a small package.
