Afternoon everyone! I just wanted to ask a quick question as to protective storage cases for the INFI that you just can't bring yourself to use (come on, we all have them)! What would make an ideal padded case for say a Game Warden LE and a FBM LE? I have two immaculate keepers that I want to keep in pristine condition until I can pass them down to my son. So...what do you guys prefer? Thanks in advance for any help or recommendations...

I'd be really careful about storing a carbon knife in a leather padded case long term. They can retain moisture and actually do much more harm than protect.

What he said and here is a storage alternative!!! ***SOCKS***

WOW! There are some beautiful cases on those sites. One can even get carried away with storing INFI! Many thanks gentlemen!

Oeser posted the thread where I got some great recommendations above. I tried cases from three of the recommended vendors, off the top of my head Ace Cases and the Randall Cases...can't remember the third right now. The Randal Cases where hands down my favorite. Very well made and slimmer profile...while still offering great protection. I got them here:

I just ordered some Ace Cases because there weren't any Randall cases in the sizes I needed.

Can you tell me the differences between the two i.e. positives and negatives?

10-4 on storing steel in leather, the acids will cause some minor problems for the uncoated steel. the leather cases afore mentioned are lined with a soft material.

also a little hint that has worked well for me over the years is plain ole wax paper to wrap any knife in for storage, same effect as butcher paper and we all know how long that has been used on fine cutlery...

That is my case :)

Hey man, yes I can. First let me say there's not a huge difference and I'm sure you'll be happy with you new cases. I also ordered the Ace's since I couldn't get the Randall's in the size I needed (18"). For the most part it comes down to personal preference, except #5 (see below).:

1. The Randall's (actually Robbins is the manufacturer) have a slimmer (thinner padding) profile that I prefer.
2. The Robbins's have a very soft fur/velvet like lining that I like better than Ace's fabric liner.
3. Robbin's exterior is nylon, the Ace exterior is a material similar to fabric car seats. I prefer the nylon exterior.
4. The Robbins come in black. The Ace's come in "factory choice" colors...mine were gray, which is fine but I'd rather have black or at least know what I'm getting.
5. Lastly, each of my Ace's had several nylon threads/stitching hanging off of them both interior and exterior.

Hope that helps! am sad to see you selling your S/BP TB.

Thanks for the info. I wish they had the sizes I needed in Robbins cases but sounds like ACE Cases will be fine.

Fear not, I am not selling any black paper. I ordered two TBs one with black G-10 and one with black paper. The one for sale is the black G-10.

I am honestly not sure I want to sell it still.
