Best pull through sharpener?

I am in the market for a good pull through pocket knife sharpener, I have heard the Smiths PP1 Pocket Pal is a really good one?

The only pull-through style sharpener I've ever seen that was worth anything is the ERU Field Sharpener designed by Fred Rowe. The others I've experienced will all wreak havoc on a hard, fine edge.

ive been doing some reading on these pull through sharpeners and even seen some before and after pics, Wow. they seem to really chew up the edge quite nicely.

It can be a real shame the damage they cause, I would say stay away from them like the plague. The ERU would be the only one I would consider although, there would be a Looooooooooonnnnnnggggg list of other sharpening tools I would purchase before ever getting one.

A fine India pocket stone or ceramic dog bone would be my recommendation.

They can be made to do a good job. If you are inclined to tinker, any of the ones that an be disassembled can be tuned up.

Short of that, Fred's ERU is going to be the best out there.
