I remember reading somewhere that the winning team in the Best Ranger Competition was awarded a set of John Ek Knives. Since Ek is no longer making knives I was wondering if anyone knew what the winners received or if they still did that. I did read on the gerbergear site that they've sponsored the competition for 5 years now and they award the top three teams with their Downrange Tomahawk breaching ax and all 50 participants receive Impromptu Tactical Pens. I also saw that for the 30th Competition Gerber awarded some "De Facto" daggers but I don't know how many or to who. Anyway, I just thought someone might know something about this. I wondered if they had a cache of original-made (non-kabar) Ek knives that they still could award or if they went to something different. Looks like the competition this year is April 13 and 14. Thanks for any info. Keep 'em sharp. Steve

That's funny you say that, I was looking all over trying to find a way to get rid of that avatar or change it. I had a copy of his book Guerilla Warfare when I was a kid and always thought he was a cool rebel fighter. Now I know he was just a commie d-bag and would like to change that Avatar if at all possible.

If you go to your profile and click on your picture the change option should come up.

Looks like snake in metal gear solid .

Big Boss in MGS3 had a Strider HT-S as his fighting knife along with his sawback survival knife.

I'll take the above as a formal request and remove it.

There are over 100 companies that donate product and money to Best Ranger Competition. The Ek used to be (when the competition first started) awarded to the winners. I can't recall how many years that lasted. There are two of the Ek daggers on the Best Ranger Trophy that sits in the RTB HQ. Today is a competitor is awarded an Ek it is not an original as there was no "stash" of blades held back for the purpose of awarding them at BRC.

I just sold one of those 30th ones. Came from a collector's collection whom I believe was a Ranger. It sold for what I consider very cheap.
