Hi guys/gals, what S30v knife do you think is best? Please grade on design, value, price, and durability.

I don't know about price, but I'm considering the Benchmade Rukus. Looks like a real tank of a knife.

Kershaw Blur in S30V or the ZT 0300 series. The Blur is the cheapest of the two, but is still a great knife. The ZT 0300 is just a freakin tank and is defiantly worth the price.

Kershaw Blur. I want to get a native, tried one out in the Knife Shop, but the ergos were awkward. Just me I guess.

I vote the Spyderco Native. It's light, functional, feels great in the hand and has a great price. If i wanted to try out the steel, I wouldn't look elsewhere.

I was blown away by the quality of Lone Wolf's Harsey T2. They can be found for about $90.00. Beefy, well designed, looks like a much more expensive knife.

Very nice blade shape as well, and came wicked sharp.

I wanted to like the Native. I really did. But I ended up re-selling mine for a few reasons. Nothing negative on anyone here who loves it, it just wasn't for me. I'm hoping I'll like the CF version a lot more.

I liked my Alaskan Guide 110 - until 1.5yr back when my wife got me a WallyWorld $40 Native - wow! Got a spare last summer, still NIB. Got a Blur S30V last month - two days and I was back to the Native EDC. I have also carried my Buck #419 Folding Kalinga Pro - but it looks massive deployed - back to the Native.

I guess I went 'Native' for S30V carry - and that model is my only Spydie knife.

Merry Christmas!

Stainz

PS I still carry a Buck 110 in my back pocket - 420HC or BG-42. The AG 110 is just too pretty!

I tried the Blur in the SG2 or whatever the laminated steel is called, bought it sight unseen. The irritatingly grabby rubber inserts in otherwise slippery scales didn't do it for me at all, so I personally would stay away from the S30V version just the same (and also for the reason that I like VG-10 more than S30V).

Lone Wolf's Harsey T2- It's become my favorite carry knife. This after years of taking the Spyderco military everywhere.

Ninja,

It would seem that you need to provide more information on the type of knife you're interested in (folder, fixed, ...) and what you want to do with that knife. "Best" is very relative.

I only have two a Spyderco Military, and a Benchmade 615. I think the 615 just barely, barely wins out over the Mili.

I think Spyderco does S30V as well as anybody, and their flat ground blades work better for me than anything else. I'd suggest a Paramilitary as one of the best deals around for materials, design, ergos, and price. If cost is a concern, you can get a Sage for < $100. It's flat ground S30V, CF scales, and an excellent liner lock.

The closest competitor to Spyderco for S30V that I have used are BM's Ritter Grips. They get obscenely sharp and hold their edge for a good while. I like Spyderco's ergos and G10 better than the Grips and their FRN, but the Ritters are a good value.
