Ok - I could probably go to their web site and dork around until I got the answer but I'm guessing someone here knows this off the top of his/her head.

What is the smallest readily available (not some one of a kind million dollar knife) SAK that has:

* At least 1 blade
* Scissors
* Wood saw
* Toothpick / tweezers - nice but not a must have

Anyone? Beuller?

FieldMaster - you rock, Andrew! Thanks a ton!
:thumbup:

It's even got that goofy hook thing that mystified me for years on another SAK I have. Works great for stretching new guitar strings - not sure what else though. :-p

smallest -farmer-no toothpick or tweezers-thinnest but a full 91mm-no scissors either now that i think about it

I was looking at that one and like it, but I use the scissors almost as much as the blade and the farmer seems to be lacking those.

Keep your eyes on EDCsource.com, there will be a Scibeer Victorinox Farmer with scissors and clip going up for auction. One sold last month at an auction for Felinevet for $130. Well worth it, and a good cause too. I believe there will be only 2 more made.

I'll have a look - thanks for the heads-up.

- there are very few corks in my life. :D

now SAKs are considered "multitools" and when each individual tool can be used for other things, that's a plus!

like the Corkscrew: pulling corks, untying knots, holding the little screwdriver, awl, pushing/pulling things in tight spaces and more.

the Hook: carrying parcels (with string), hanger, holding the pen, picking up hot cups/pots with a bale, pulling things in tight spaces and more.

;)

I use to think comments like the quote above were just wishing thinking, but to my surprise as I started using SAKs, I found this to be very true. Not just true in a "testing" my knife sort of way, but instead based on actual use in response to situations that arise during the average day.

Put a SAK in your pocket and once it is integrated in your system, you will use it for many, many tasks and wonder how you could survive so many years without. :)

Anyway, I think both the Huntsman and Fieldmaster should fit your needs. Of these two I only have two Huntsmans, for some reason that model is widely available here in the Netherlands, the Fieldmaster is not very common.

I think the Victorinx hunstman exactly fit your needs :cool:

It does. Think it's between that and the nearly identical Fieldmaster. Huntsman has a corkscrew and Fieldmaster has a Phillips head.

Corks are scarce in my world though the corkscrew has a few other uses (helping with stubborn knots, etc.). The extra screwdriver... could come in handy I suppose.

They both look pretty nice to me.

I was just trying to figure out why I have a hook in general, and then I saw a fieldmaster and wondered why I don't have that model, then I realized that my huntsman is almost the same and felt alright about it. I guess if I didn't know the fieldmaster existed I would have never felt like I was missing something (phillips head). maybe I will get a mini phillips for my corkscrew to make me feel better.

next time I have to pick up a hot pot off my camp stove or fire, I hope I remember my hook.
