Best SAK lube?

I've always used WD-40, and it's worked okay. I also figure it will displace any moisture. I just put a drop of Militec 1 in every joint of my SAK (it was hard to apply, it's hard to aim the drops with the trial bottle I have) and then I blowdried it for a few seconds to activate it. It doesnt seem to work as well as I expected, but it's as good as the WD-40 is. I'd rather use WD because it's cheaper, but which one is better for the knife?

WD-40 isn't really a lubricant. It can be used as such, but there's much better choices.

I think with Militech you're supposed to heat the knife first, then apply the lube. I'm not sure Militech is the best choice for a SAK either. Militech is good for 1h folders and balisongs that need loose, fluid movement. With the tightness of the pivots, I'd think something thicker would be better.

I use mineral oil / baby oil, I use WD40 after I wash the knife with water, then apply mineral oil.

For the longest time I had a great lube right under my nose! Tri-Flow! My dad has it in his workshop and we use it to oil our bike chains, it never crossed my mind to use it for a knife. When that depletes, I'll use some Mineral oil; it worked very well on my 550.

I used Tri Flow on my knives for a long while until I got some Militech. It works great, and costs a fraction of what Militech does.

I wonder if I should try Militech on my bike...

I've used Super-Lube on a variaty of things (bikes, garage-door chain, tools) with great success.

I've also used Hoppe's 9 light oil too.

But to be honest, I don't even lube my knives.
I've never had a problem with a clean knife binding or having excessive wear, but when I have lubed or oiled them, they collect lint and dirt like crazy.

Good luck,
Allen.

My memory is quickly departing me, but I didn't read somewhere about Tri-Flow causing nasty stains on clothing and such. If so, it might not be the best lube for this application. I was also under the impression that Tri-Flow was quite high in viscosity.
