Best SAK to engrave as gifts

I'm thinking of getting a whole bunch of Swiss Army Knives (maybe 20) then getting names engraved and giving them to various friends and family members as gifts for birthdays, wedding, etc. Most of them are belated wedding presents so I want to be able to get the same one for the guy and girl. I also want them to be small, slim, and nice, and on the cheaper end since I have to get so many.

I know some of you guys are way into your SAKs...any recommendations on particular models (any good options besides standard red scale?) and maybe any tricks for getting a whole bunch cheap?

Big TIA... :thumbup::thumbup::)

Cadet.
You can find them for under $20 if you look. Target has them for about $17 or so.

the Cadet II is exactly what you described. It comes in several colors with the nicer Alox scales instead of the plastic, and it even has a smooth strip on the non-logo side for engraving.

Man, you just missed an eBay auction that was selling Recruits in bulk, without box. Something like 8$ each, new :eek:

In any case, I'd definitely check the old FleaBay for something similar.

Thanks a lot guys, that information so far is really helpful. Something like the cadet or recruit are exactly what I'm looking for.. Anything else? :)

I think the Cadet has a little square for engraving... initials or something. The Copper Cadet is quite a looker as well.

I would also suggest the Cadet. Small, slim and durable alox scales. The alox Bantam is even slimmer, but the Cadet provides a few more tools in just a little bit thicker package.

Edit: note that silver alox is default and those in other colors can be rare, at least they are here in the Netherlands, which causes a higher price.

The Cadet seems perfect for your needs, but the Pioneer is really nice too if you want something a little bigger. Both have alox scales and a place for engraving.

Also, don't forget about the Solo Alox - they're available for as low as $18/$19 incl. shipping if you shop around.

Here's my Pioneer Settler which I engraved with my s/n ;):D to give you a better idea of how they look.

Awesome, thanks! I think one of these guys will be perfect. Maybe I'll snap a picture of them all in a pile before sending them on their ways in a month or so :)
