If you were going to create a sandwich steel that could be used for fixed blade knives what two steels would you use?
My approach would be to use a hard carbon based steel in the centre and two pieces of high chromium steel on the outside.
What are the two best steels to use for sandwich steel? In other words, if these two steels were combined would you have the "best" steel possible for a knife?
