Want to ask a question; we all know certain blades like the spyderco tenacious or pm2 the benchmade griptilian, the rat model one, SOG Flash 2, Kershaw Blur are very popular. These are likely best sellers for their respective companies but I want to know what kind of numbers that represents? Furthermore if a company introduces a new blade to the market what kind of sales are they looking for to make it a success? If anyone reading this is a company rep I don't need any secret inside info just some idea of what makes a model successful and what successful vs best seller looks like. Anyone care to comment on how poorly a knife has to do to get it dropped?

Successful= Sufficient RoI to justify the overall cost for offering that particular model, including tooling, marketing, and opportunity cost vs. other models.

Best seller= Picked up by Walmart. I cannot comment specifically on knives, but there is one product line that I am directly familiar with for which Walmart outsells all other distribution channels combined.

Your point is well made Yalius but I'd really like an idea of numbers would a company sell 10000 units of a popular knife or way more?
