Hey Guys,

What is the best sheath for a 12” Ontario Machete?

Thanks,

G

Eric "Normark" makes em nice (everything), him and his company are well respected!

If you're looking for a leather Machete sheath I might be able to help. BTW Eric is great with Kydex.

That Guys,

I was looking for a non- custom sheath. Something I can just buy on-line.

If Eric has the knife(in most cases he does-LOL), just tell him what you have and he can get it to you without you sending him your knife. Did that with my mini-bushman. Look up his site. Good stuff!

If I have the knife,, you can just buy it on line...

What kind of sheath exactly are you looking for ??

Do you want just a simple Cheapo sheath to store the knife in and protect you from cuts,, or do you need something a little more hardcore?

"i put on my robe and wizard hat...":)

seriously though, erics kydex are some of the best sheaths around, warranty too!

if however you're looking for a generic sheath i think they make mil spec machete sheaths from some sort of plastic. it wont be nearly as good as eric's sheath and probably cost the same. but that might be a good place to start searching.

Ontario makes inexpensive nylon sheaths for them, several places sell them like DLT trading Co and GPknives.
I have one for my 18" machete and it's fine.

You asked for the best! and that would be a custom made one.

Hey G123

If money is the problem and Cheap is the route you want to go then Chris is correct..

Make one from a chunk of PVC Tubing..

You could get a cut off at the hardware store for a couple of bucks... Cut it to the length you need ,, pop it into the oven when the Mrs is out for awhile get it good and hot,, stick the Machete into the pipe and flatten it with something REALLY heavy...

Trim and clean it up and bingo.. Instant sheath that cost you almost Nothing, will last quite awhile and protect you from the edge....

Not Pretty,, but Extremely Functional and Doable...

I got a good heavy duty one from the Ben Meadows outdoor tool catalog.--KV

A home made sheath is probably the way to go if you are looking for inexpencive. But if you want to consider something nicer thats hand made check this out:

You can buy everything you need to make your self a nice Leather sheath like the one I posted for a good price at Tandy Leather Factory. A fun project and would look better then the PVC sheath which works too but just doesn't look as nice. And there are plenty of Sheath makers on Bladeforums that can make something like that for you.

you can just buy the plastic military version for the 18" machete and just cut it down. just make sure you dont cut it to far and have the point sticking out at the bottom. just look for plastic ontario machete sheaths.

I say make your own. I started doing it about a year ago and now I do it not only because i'm a skinflint but because I enjoy it. Here's one I made and pimped earlier.
