Hey guys, I am looking for a nice folder, for about 30 bucks. The blade must be below 3 inches, but preferably around 2 inches or so. any ideas guys?? thanks!

I have several knives with 2" blades (not allowed to carry bigger at work) and find that the handles are too small to get a good grip, even with my smallish hands. I would recommend a 2 1/2" blade, or at least get a knife with grippable handle. I hear the Lava is very grippable for a short blade.

The Byrd line is nice and in your price range. I handled one of the G-10 handled ones and I own a robin myself. Steel is pretty good as well as fit and finish.

A CRKT Falcon? Nice little fixed blade neck knife, takes a good edge, sharpens up easily, and the handle is pretty decently sized for a knife that small. I had to change the chain over, it left black paint on my neck, but that was easy enough. Its my favourite small knife, although I have to say the KAT that I handled was also pretty good, but I didn't get enough time with it to form a real opinion.

Cheers, Acolyte.

i guess i'll nominate a Byrd Robin or a Bokerplus SubcomF/Wharcom/Trance
if you like assisted opening the Kershaw Needs Work is in your price range.
small fixed neck knife : Buck Hartsook

second the opinion that these are absolutly great deals on a simple quality product.AG Russle seems to usually have at least a couple of different models on sale for around $20 plus ship/handeling.

check out the Boker CLB line. They have several small folders for well under $30 including subcom, subclaw and the trance which is my EDC.

How bout a nice trim well balanced Buck 501?In the Walmart case for around 30 bills.

Gerber Torch 1 is a decent lil sub $30 folder , Length of Blade: 2.7"
Rick Hinderer design , blade steel is 440A , have one in the center console of the car , cool little flipper.

I've seen Kershaw chives sold for about $30. I think that's what they are at WalMart.

The most utility for your money in that price range is one of many brilliant devices by Victorinox or Wenger.

You could have a Spyderco Native for $40, if you were willing to give up the extra $10

Wally World has a good candidate in the US-made $25 Buck #503 Prince, a 2.5" lockback with nickel silver bolsters, rosewood scales, and a sharp 420HC blade. Great looker and user in a 'proper' type/size pocket knife. Want a few extra goodies? Consider the $20 Victorinox 'Super Tinker', a real Swiss Army Knife. The PRC-made CRK M-16 @ $20 is reportedly a good buy there as well. They have a Buck Stockman traditional folder (OAL 3.88"; trio of blades) - if it's the black plastic US-made #301, it's a bargain. If it's the PRC-made #371 with wood scales, not quite as good of a bargain. They also have a few great candidates from $30-$40, most notably the Kershaw Scallion and Spyderco S30V Native, both US-made. Good luck!

thank you guys so much for all of the recommendations. 2.75 inches I think is too long for me. also I love the byrd, and I think I am gunna get the byrd robin. Where is a good place to get one of these? I mean what online places are good? also I am pretty sure I am just gunna get a plain edge, but for every day use do you think that is a good idea? I mean on a blade this small I don't think the combo edge would be useful because neither the serrations nor the plain edge would be long enough do anything. Thank so much guys!
