Been a long time since I soldered any guards. But I want to make sure this latest batcht/knives I'm making is bulletproof. Those of you who solder guards what are you using? Both solder and flux, stainless and carbon?
I will be using both nickel and brass for the guard material.

Staybrite for stainless and tix for carbon steel. Tix is a low temp solder and flux but I have never tried it on stainless.

Staybrite/Stayclean works just as well for carbon steel as stainless.
Tix is good for low temperature repairs, but is too expensive for general soldering.

Staybrite for stainless and Tix for carbon. Use the matching flux for each.

Tix flows wonderfully with very little heat if the surfaces are clean. I have used a heat gun to solder guards.

Too much heat and burning the flux is the cause of 95% of all soldering failures. Using a plumbers torch to solder guards is like using a sedge hammer to put in carpet tacks. Use a small refillable butane torch ($15) or a jeweler's torch like the Simit or Little torch.
